The development team at Blizzard working on the card based Hearthstone announces that it plans to wipe all progress that players have currently made in the beta stage of the game in preparation for a major second update for the title.

The team states, "We built this into our plan as we knew going into the beta that a number of cards were likely to emerge as overpowered and we also knew that we‘d make significant adjustments to the reward system and overall game progression."

Blizzard says that after the wipe, which is fully detailed in the official announcement, gamers will get access to the release version of the progression system for the game.

All elements of Hearthstone will be affected by the wipe, including gold, experience and class levels, quantities of dust, unlocked cards and medals.

Blizzard has not yet announced an official launch date for the title.
