For now, a very limited number of invites are out, but more will come in the near future

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor's public alpha test has now officially begun, as Blizzard has started sending out invites to a small number of players, with more to be sent out in the near future.

While past alpha tests have traditionally been reserved for Blizzard employees and their friends and family members, Warlords of Draenor delivers a big enough list of changes that a larger testing pool is required. As such, the company has started churning out invites, but for the time being, only a selected few along with some lucky players will be able to get their hands on the much-anticipated expansion.

"This initial wave is extremely limited, and we'll be sending additional invites as testing progresses. In the meantime, we recommend visiting your favorite fansites for information and updates, Twitch to watch streams, and the front page here at WorldofWarcraft.com for continuing content updates," the announcement on the Battle.net forums reads.

This will, no doubt, be a great opportunity for fans of the game to get up to date on what the newly introduced features are really like, beyond mere patch notes, and the good news is that the first impressions from the game's alpha test are already out, detailing Warlords of Draenor's Garrison gameplay.

The Warlords of Draenor expansion is scheduled to come out later this year, presumably around November, when World of Warcraft celebrates its tenth anniversary.
