The studio won't remove the bans and won't even issue refunds for those affected

Blizzard has apparently begun taking action against Diablo 3 players who are running the game on various Linux operating systems through Wine by banning them with its anti-cheat system.

Security is a controversial issue for Diablo 3, as Blizzard has been trying hard to keep the title and its Battle.net system as secure as possible by automatically banning anyone who’s caught modifying the game’s executable.

Sadly, this aggressive strategy has started targeting innocent victims in the form of Diablo 3 owners who play the game on Linux operating systems through the Wine program.

According to several Battle.net forum members who run Linux, they were banned for using unapproved software and encountered a message that said, “A third party program is any file or program that is used in addition to the game to gain an unfair advantage.”

What’s more, Blizzard’s customer service is declining to un-ban the accounts and won’t issue a refund to those who were locked out of their game.

As of yet, Blizzard hasn’t commented on the issue.
