The development team at Irrational Games is letting a small number of employees go because it needs to streamline its development process, but the company says that the move does not affect the development of Burial at Sea, the first story-based DLC for BioShock Infinite.

Only eight developers have been laid off by the company.

A statement obtained by Kotaku reads, "Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen."

Burial at Sea for BioShock Infinite will get a first episode later in 2013, with Booker DeWitt as main character and the first part of a story based in Columbia.

The second part of the DLC will be added in 2014 and will have Elizabeth as a playable character, with a number of new abilities that gamers can use.
