Caroline Marchal, the leading gameplay developer working on Beyond: Two Souls, says that mainstream gamers should spend anywhere from 12 to 15 hours with the story of the game, more than they did with the company’s previous title, Heavy Rain.

He tells VG247 that, “I think it’s longer than Heavy Rain because there is more exploration. It’s difficult to say right now because we are, at the moment, pacing the game, so things change and lines are moving.”

Beyond: Two Souls is designed to explore the relationship between a young woman and a mysterious entity over more than a decade.

The game benefits from contributions from Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, who have undergone extensive motion capture for their roles.

Beyond: Two Souls will be offered exclusively on the PlayStation 3 from Sony on October 8.
