The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are set to bring Battlefield 4 down for maintenance today for a one-hour period for each platform on which the first-person shooter is available.

The information comes from the official Twitter feed associated with the game, but the two companies are not yet willing to state exactly when each gaming device will be affected.

Gamers who are planning to engage in multiplayer matches today should keep an eye out on more information from DICE.

The company is not saying why the maintenance is required or whether it plans to tweak the core game mechanics or is simply making sure that the infrastructure is working as it should.

Battlefield 4 is set to get access to Dragon’s Teeth, a new piece of downloadable content that will introduce more maps and a new riot shield for players to use.

The company has also pledged to support the shooter in the long term and expand the Community Test Environment.

The team plans to add another DLC later during summer, but at the same time, DICE is also supporting Visceral Games in their work on Battlefield Hardline, which uses a cops versus criminals theme and will be launched before the end of the year.
