The team is not saying how long the process might take

In what seems to be turning into a bi-weekly ritual, the development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are restarting the servers for the Battlefield 4 first-person shooter today at 2 AM Pacific Time / 9 AM UTC / 11 AM Central European Time.

The Twitter message from the official account of the franchise states that multiplayer might be affected, but it is not clear for how long gamers might be unable to engage in their favorite mode.

The two companies are also not saying why the restart is needed or whether there are any plans to introduce any changes to Battlefield 4 at this moment.

DICE might simply be preparing its infrastructure for the big patch that’s supposed to be launched at some point in September of this year, with a host of changes to core features of the shooter, all based on the feedback coming from the player community.

At the moment, the studio is also working on the final downloadable content pack for the title, which is supposed to arrive before the end of the year with four new maps and a new mode.

Battlefield Hardline has been delayed to 2015 and will probably be launched during the first three months of the year.
