Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are starting server maintenance on all platforms for Battlefield 4, which means that all multiplayer for the game will be unavailable for a few hours.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the franchise and more updates will be offered when the two companies know exactly when servers are back up and running.

DICE is not saying whether the maintenance is just routine or whether it is planning to make any changes to the core elements of Battlefield 4.

The company has previously promised that it will deliver a major update in early September on all platforms, which is designed to change some of the most common mechanics, including revival, and to better balance the various weapons.

At the same time, the studio continues to work with fans in the Community Test Environment in order to test other potential changes that can improve the experience.

A final downloadable content pack for Battlefield 4 is set to be launched at some point in the fall and it will introduce new maps, weapons, and modes for the shooter.

Battlefield Hardline has been delayed by Visceral Games and Electronic Arts into 2015.
