Battlefield 4 is getting closer to its launch date and the team working on the first-person shooter at DICE is ready to reveal that the multiplayer rewards system will include a tweaked set of ribbons, ranks and medals.

Valerian Noghin, the persistence designer, and William Cooper, his assistant, state in an official blog post that, "While sharing similar basics with Battlefield 3, we are now offering a cleaner upgrade path, clearer Ribbon and Medal progression, and an increased focus on richly rewarding great team play."

Ribbons are the smallest pieces of the puzzle, designed to allow players to receive a quick reward after each round of play.

At the same time, gamers will be able to battle in order to increase in Rank, which is a clear signifier of their overall dedication to Battlefield 4.

Medals are another tool for long-term players, designed to show, at a glance, where a gamer focuses his efforts and how he can contribute to a team.
