Video game developer DICE and publisher Sony are announcing that they are launching a day-long maintenance effort for their main first-person shooter, Battlefield 4, which means gamers might experience some issues over the next 24 hours when it comes to logging into and launching multiplayer matches.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the franchise and the two companies are apologizing for any problems that players might encounter.

Traditionally, DICE announces maintenance periods for Battlefield 4 and its servers in advance and offers gamers a clear window during which multiplayer is unavailable.

The studio is also unwilling to say why it needs to work on the game at the moment and whether a new patch is being implemented.

Recently, the company announced that it was ready to push a series of new changes for Battlefield 4 on the Community Test Environment and that a major set of tweaks would be launched for the entire title at some point in November.

At the same time, DICE continues to work on Battlefield Hardline, which is at the moment set to be launched at some point in early 2015 on the Xbox One, the PC, the PlayStation 4, and last-gen consoles.
