Data gathered from previous titles in the series was important for the development of Battlefield 4, but the DICE team also relied on fans to make sure that the new title delivered a fun experience.

Fredrik Loving, the general manager at the Los Angeles studio, is quoted by GamesIndustry.biz as saying that data “shows us trends, curves, but it doesn't really show the fun factor of what people like. If we based all our decisions on data, I think we would get it wrong.”

DICE has previously mentioned that fans of Battlefield tend to also have their own blindspots when it comes to the game.

The studio needs to be careful about how it introduces new features and cautiously measures how much each new mode is played in order to see how it can be improved in future Battlefield 4 updates.
