Alastair Cornish, the creative director working on the multiplayer of Batman: Arkham Origins, says that his team is careful to make sure that the experience it is creating is consistent with the single-players universe.

He tells The Official Xbox Magazine that, “they’re the same Arkhamverse and in the same fictional window.”

The developer says that he was fascinated by the combat in the single player of the Batman series and wanted to see how players could use them in a competitive experience.

Cornish adds, “So those kind of ‘what if’ questions, the questions that we asked ourselves about how we could evolve that really strong pillar of the single player, just made sense and led to the fantastic asymmetrical gameplay that we’ve got now.”

The multiplayer mode in Batman: Arkham Origins has Batman and Robin battle elite thugs and their villain leaders.

The game will be out in late October on the PC, Wii U and current-gen consoles.
