Batman: Arkham Knight developer Rocksteady confirms that the recently revealed Batgirl character will be the Barbara Gordon version of the character, which means that it will be a major prequel that shows her before she becomes paralyzed and gets the name of Oracle.

Batman: Arkham Knight, as its name suggests, focuses on the Caped Crusader as he goes up against a new enemy called the Arkham Knight, as well as other, more established villains from the comic book universe.

Over the weekend, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady confirmed that the Season Pass for the game would cover various story additions, including one focusing on Batgirl, called "A Matter of Family."

Unfortunately, no other details were given, so fans were confused about quite a few things, among which her actual identity, as several different characters got the Batgirl identity in the comics.

After a bit of speculation, Rocksteady's Sefton Hill confirms on Twitter that Barbara Gordon is Batman: Arkham Knight's Batgirl.

This inadvertently confirms that the prologue is a big one that shows Barbara before she becomes paralyzed and assumes the identity of Oracle, one of Batman's most important allies.

You can bet that more details about Batman: Arkham Knight and its DLC packs will appear as we get closer to the game's launch in June.
