Assassin's Creed Unity represents a fresh start for the narrative of the series, according to Ubisoft, largely because it will have a new present day plot that allows for more things to be explained with relative ease and without needing to resort to previous games in the long-running franchise.

The Assassin's Creed series kicked off way back in 2007 and, since 2009, it's received yearly installments that further explored the concept of an age-old conflict between the Assassin brotherhood and the Templar order.

The upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity keeps this focus but changes the present day portion of the story in order to give it a fresh start in terms of narrative, at least according to Ubisoft's Alex Amancio, who talked with the Examiner.

"It's a new start, it's a new narrative start. That is symbolized by a completely new context for the present day. You've seen a little bit of an evolution with Black Flag, [but] we're not going to do the same thing. What we're doing with Unity is really the beginning [of] this new cycle of Assassin's Creed games."

According to Amancio, the present day portion of the game will be explained in a better way and this will make Unity the perfect entry point into the franchise for anyone who missed out on all the previous games.

Unity is set to debut this fall for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
