The development team at Ubisoft working on Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag says that it will continue to deliver details about the meta-story of the series in the coming title, even if the focus will be on Edward Kenway and his adventures.

Ashraf Ismail, the director planning the overall structure of the story, states via the official company blog that he wants to make sure that gamers understand why the protagonist is interesting to Abstergo and to the Templars.

He also says that a number of cameos have been added to the game in order to push forward the overall conspiracy.

Ismail adds, “The First Civilization, Juno – all that is part of the brand and yes, there’s progression in it. It’s not just a nod that we make to it.”

Assassin’s Creed 4 is set to launch on the PlayStation 3, the Wii U and the Xbox 360 at the end of October.
