Ben Mattes, a senior producer working on Batman: Arkham Origins at the Montreal studio of Warner Bros., says that one of the aims of the new video game is to make the character seem scary again, bringing him closer to his defining nature.

A fan forum is quoting the developer as saying, “In later years Batman becomes very much a part of the institution. That's not who our Batman is.”

The Batman of Arkham Origins will aim to use surprise as a tactic and will try to separate his enemies from one another and take them out quickly while also terrorizing the rest of the group into submissions.

Batman: Arkham City will also feature a new combat system that will be more visceral than that created by Rocksteady.

The title is set to arrive in early October and will be offered on home console and the PC.
