The first company to include limits will face a public backlash

Colin Sebastian, an analyst working with Robert W. Baird & Co., believes that no publisher will take advantage of the Xbox One features that will allow them to block gamers from playing used titles.

If a company were to use the tools that Microsoft made available, it would risk a big backlash from players, according to an investor note that VG247 has seen.

Sebastian says, "At first glance, we would not be surprised although we see it as unlikely that GameStop would agree to any meaningful fees given business model constraints and outsized market share (almost 50% of Xbox software sales)."

Microsoft has revealed that all game publishers will be able to choose how to handle used games and that players will be able to gift any disk-based title they own to a friend once.
