Sony might have problems keeping up with demand on launch

Michael Pachter, an analyst watching the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan, says that the pre-order numbers for the PlayStation 4 from Sony have reached 1.5 million units and that could be both a good and a bad sign for the company.

He is quoted by Gamethirst as saying that, “That tells you that there’s not going to be a lot of boxes behind the first million and a half, so there’s going to be supply shortages.”

The analyst also believes that the strategy that Sony has used to promote its next-gen consoles has been solid and he expects the price of the device to be important for gamers.

The PlayStation 4 will be launched on November 15 in the United States and two weeks later in Europe and gamers are still able to pre-order the device, even if some of them might not get access to the platform on launch day.
