Developer Spicy Horse announces that American McGee’s Grimm is now part of the Steam-powered Greenlight process, which means that fans can back it in order to be launched via the digital distribution service at a later date.

The episodic game allows players to experience classic fairytales as they were originally envisioned, as tales meant to frighten children and teach them valuable life lessons.

There are 23 episodes and the development team has loaded them up with some truly disturbing imagery.

Each of the experiences takes about 30 minutes to play through.

American McGee’s Grimm was first launched in 2008 and it seems that the developers are planning to keep the episodic structure, with gamers asked to pay a small amount of money for each fairytale.

American McGee and Spicy Horse’s last project was OZombie, which failed to get the funds it needed for development via Kickstarter.
