Sources close to Amazon, the biggest Internet based retailer in the world, suggest that the company is currently developing a gaming console that will target core players and will be launched before the end of this year.

Superannuation says that the device might be created using the Android operating system in a heavily modified form.

The console might be in stock at Amazon before Black Friday, which would make it a big rival to both the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Sources are saying that the company will give away one app or game for its new console each day and that it is already working with developers to create experiences that use the unique features of its platform.

Recently, an Android-based Ouya console has been launched and the company that created it ran out of devices during its first month on the market.

Amazon has not offered any comment on the rumors so far.
