The developers at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA  are launching an official television ad for their upcoming Alien: Isolation, called Distress, which is designed to show what the title has to offer to a larger public than traditional fans of the survival horror experience.

The TV spot does not feature too much in-game footage but it does show how the main character Amanda Ripley seeks to escape the xenomorph that's hunting her by moving across the derelict space station and by using a range of makeshift weapons and devices.

The two companies have chosen to focus more on the praise that Alien: Isolation has been receiving from the specialist press and to highlight how close to the world of the series it plans to stay, with a look that's directly inspired by the first two movies.

SEGA has not said when it plans to run the television spot for the title or whether it will continue to also release the survival-focused vignettes that have shown gamers the various strategies that they can employ in order to try and stay alive.

Alien: Isolation arrives on October 7 on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PC and last-gen consoles.

The Creative Assembly has announced that a Season Pass will be offered for the title, with DLC which will include new challenges for gamers to deal with and will add new playable characters.
