Gary Napper, the lead designer working on Alien: Isolation, believes that the scandal that surrounded the launch of last year’s Colonial Marines might have hurt the franchise, but it also showed how passionate the fan base still was.

He tells GamesIndustry that, “they’re all after something very specific, and everyone has their own idea of what the alien should be. But just to see such a vocal reaction to the game, everything that they’ve said they want is something that we’re building and we’re very excited about that.”

The new Isolation game is designed to appeal to hardcore fans, mainly to those who love the aesthetics and the atmosphere of the Ridley Scott original.

The title will use survival horror mechanics and will never allow players to become more powerful than the xenomorph that is hunting them.

Alien: Isolation will be launched late in 2014 on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and current-gen consoles.
