It's a wonder nobody thought of this before, but Doom now has a selfie stick. Unfortunately, it's not used to beat anyone to death. Yet.

The social media revolution managed to take the world of Doom by storm, after an intrepid modder added Instagram-like filters and a selfie stick to the game. You can now take shots of your mug all over id Software's shooter's most iconic levels, just like Romero always wanted to.

The vanity changes come courtesy of the InstaDoom mod, enabling users to recolor the game using 37 of the most popular filters on Instagram.

The shooter is one of the most influential video games of all time, and it was regarded as a masterpiece of design back in 1993, when it was released. It had pretty much everything you could have wanted in a shooter, including demons and giant spider robots, and was set on Mars.

Pretty much everyone who has been around since that time has played it, and many of today's standards are derived from it and from its predecessor, Wolfenstein 3D, where you even got to shoot Hitler in the face.

Anyway, the wait is over. Now, you can finally upload those Phobos vacation photos to Facebook.
