The company is conservative when it comes to the future of Destiny and Call of Duty

Eric Hirshberg, the chief executive officer of the publishing arm of Activision, says that the launch of the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony has led to a decline in overall video game sales and that the process will continue while the two consoles enlarge their install base.

This means that the financial expectations of his company and the estimates for its coming titles, including Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, will remain conservative for the coming months, says VG247.

Since the next-gen devices from both Sony and Microsoft were launched, they have generated more sales than older hardware from the same companies.

The problem for the video game industry is that the decline in video game sales associated with the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 is faster than the increase linked to the Xbox One and the PS4.

Activision has posted solid results for the first quarter of this year and the publisher says that it is planning to deliver more high quality experiences for gamers before 2014 is over.

Destiny will be launched in September worldwide and will introduce a new world created by Bungie.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is set to be delivered on November 4.
