Video game publisher Activision announces that it has performed better than it was expecting during the last fiscal quarter, despite the fact that its revenue and its profit have declined when compared to the same period of last year.

At the same time, Call of Duty remains the most important title that the company has, both in terms of units sold and revenue generated, but Ghosts has not managed to deliver the same impressive performance as its Black Ops2 predecessor.

Bobby Kotick, the chief executive officer of the company, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, "2013 was a transformational year for Activision Blizzard and for our industry. Our transaction with Vivendi returned us to independence and eliminated the challenges and constraints of being a controlled company."

Call of Duty: Ghosts has managed to sell well in both North America and in Europe and Activision says that it expects coming downloadable content launches to extend the shooter’s lifetime.
