Video game publisher Activision Blizzard has filed a trademark application for a new spin-off for its popular Skylanders franchise, called Sidekick, which will apparently be launched during June.

The company is partnering up with Frito-Lay in order to promote the Sidekick line of toys, with customers able to redeem a free figure with each purchase, although it is not clear which products are included in the promotion.

The included Sidekicks are: Big Grunt, Mega Stealth, Mighty Fin and Super Trigger and their real identities will be unveiled at a later date.

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure was launched during 2011 and has become a surprise hit for Activision.

The toys have been one of the most requested gifts during the Christmas period and since then the company has announced that it was working on a Giants spin-off that will be launched later during the year, with new characters and new virtual adventures for them to complete.
