Hello and welcome to a new edition of A Gamer's Week, our own special feature where we recap the biggest gaming events from the past 7 days as well as our own special coverage ran here at the Games section of Softpedia.

We've been quite busy this week, publishing not just a full pledged review of Resistance 3, the new first person shooter for the PlayStation 3 by Insomniac Games, but also had some quick looks at Hard Reset, a gritty cyberpunk shooter, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, the new shooter/hack and slash hybrid from Relic Entertainment. Besides that, we continued our Deus Ex diary series and published a special Weekend Reading piece on the games industry nowadays, which is forgetting about older gamers in pursuit of younger ones that want easy and simplistic titles instead of more challenging ones.

Now, let's start our weekly recap with Monday, when we reported on the big reveals from Activision's Call of Duty XP event. First up, Modern Warfare 3 saw its multiplayer mode completely detailed to the world, alongside an official video. After that, we heard that the Call of Duty Elite premium membership would cost $49.99 per year, although there's still a free membership available.

On Tuesday we found out from DICE that to get all the unlockables items in Battlefield 3, players need to spend over 100 hours with the game's single and multiplayer modes. While that's quite impressive, the biggest shock of the day came from AMD, which mistakenly leaked 1.7 million Steam codes for Dirt 3 on the web.

Wednesday was mod showcase day, as Deus Ex: Human Revolution saw the release of a special debug mod that allows gamers access to hidden options and features within the new RPG. Besides that, we were amazed by a stunning video for an upcoming mod for Grand Theft Auto IV, which brings the previous Vice City iteration into its graphics engine, with the same adventures and environments although rendered with the new RAGE technology.

Thursday saw Electronic Arts reaffirm that its Battlelog online service for the upcoming Battlefield 3 shooter won't have a premium subscription, unlike Call of Duty Elite for Modern Warfare 3. Rockstar fans had reason to celebrate this day, as the company confirmed, once again, a release date for Max Payne 3, which might finally arrive in March 2012.

On Friday, analysts begun to speculate what the new launch date for Max Payne 3 means for the inevitable Grand Theft Auto V, also coming from Rockstar, with some believing that it might still appear in 2012. In the meantime, the NPD group posted its hardware and software sales charts for the month of August. The Xbox 360 once again was the dominant console, while Deus Ex: Human Revolution ruled over its opponents.

While it's been a busy gamers week, you can always check out the dedicated Games section at Softpedia for your daily dose of news and downloads.
