It's been a pretty hectic week for gamers, especially PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable owners, who still couldn't access the PlayStation Network, but did manage to finally find out some details from Sony itself about the problem.

First up, however, you can enjoy our ongoing Gamer Diary series focusing on Portal 2, as well as a Weekend Reading piece about the mistakes Sony made during the PlayStation Network outage.

Now, let's start our recap of the most important gaming events during the last week.

On Tuesday, April 26, Sony continued to say that the PlayStation Network offline period would be extended, and that it didn't know when the service would be back online. Nintendo also took the chance to confirm that it would be showcasing the successor to its Wii home console at this summer's E3 conference.

Wednesday, April 27, saw Sony finally admit that hackers might have compromised the personal data of the 70+ million PlayStation Network users, stealing important information ranging from names or addresses to credit card data. Call of Duty fans did receive some great news that day, as Activision confirmed that the Call of the Dead map from the upcoming Escalation DLC for Black Ops would feature celebrities like Danny Trejo, Sarah Michelle Gellar or zombie movie legend George Romero.

On Thursday, April 28, Sony began answering the many questions about the PSN outage, trying to calm down the legions of users who found out that their personal data might be in the hands of unscrupulous hackers. The answers didn't satisfy a U.S. Senator or a UK data privacy association, who demanded explanations from Sony about the breach in its security.

On Friday, EA finally admitted the existence of Need for Speed: The Run, which received a teaser trailer and some speculated details, courtesy of a leak on a retailer website. Blizzard also decided to reveal that its upcoming role-playing game, Diablo III, is now entering its home stretch in terms of development, and that we might see it released at the end of the year.
