Delivering reviews, columns, diaries and news from the past week

This week, our review department delivers evaluations for two of the most interesting titles of early March: SimCity, the rebooted title from Maxis and Electronic Arts, and God of War: Ascension, the Kratos-powered experience from Sony.

We also have reviews for: Crysis 3, the Nanosuit-powered first-person shooter from Crytek, Tomb Raider, the rebooted Lara Croft featuring adventure and stealth experience, and The Showdown Effect, the 2D action and shooter mix from the creators of Magicka.

When it comes to Weekend Reading, we have the usual two articles: one about free-to-play, Banner Saga and Game of Thrones Ascent and another about next-gen consoles and their PC elements.

The Games department also delivers a series of articles about the recently revealed PlayStation 4 next-generation consoles from Sony and one for the SimCIty reboot from Maxis.

As always, we also deliver an EndWeekGame piece which describes our gaming habits for the coming free days and a selection of the most interesting pieces from the past seven days.

On Monday, Bethesda introduced the 1.9 beta patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which allows gamers to use Legendary Achievements, and Ubisoft gave official details on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Tuesday, more features for the new Ubisoft action and stealth title were released, and Disruptor Beam talked about the way players’ choices will impact the world of Game of Thrones Ascent in the long term.

Wednesday was all about the Thief reboot that’s being developed by Square Enix, which received its first official details from developers, while the new stealth and Focus combat systems were also explained.

Thursday, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was the focus as the Ubisoft team delivered new screenshots and more information about the stealth elements.

On Friday, Blizzard talked about working on Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void while a new concept called Rising Phoenix was revealed for Assassin's Creed.

Saturday, a rumor suggested that Electronic Arts is suspending marketing for SimCity and it was revealed the next-gen consoles will allow for self-published patches.
