Another 2011 week has passed and we've been playing the first new games of the year, which we will talk about next week, when Dead Space 2 and Little Big Planet 2 are also set to arrive.

In the meantime we took a trip on nostalgia lane and posted a set of Gamer Diaries that are linked to Left 4 Dead 2 and the zombie killing experiences that it offers.

We also have a Weekend Reading piece about how Microsoft is mistreating PC gamers over Fable III and an EndWeekGame article that is concerned about our gaming experience for the weekend.

And, as the title of the article implies, we have to offer a selection of news from the previous seven days.

On Monday, the first hacked firmware for the PlayStation 3 popped up, allowing gamers to run their own applications on their home console while apparently eliminating the possibilities for piracy that the hack was associated with.

On the same day, Nintendo has talked about their main gaming characters, Mario and Zelda, saying that they can support the future of the company.

On Tuesday, Bethesda offered the first set of details about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, saying that the leveling system for the new role-playing game will use a leveling system for enemies that is similar to that employed in Fallout 3.

The day also witnessed an announcement from Blizzard saying that the Cataclysm expansion for the MMO World of Warcraft has managed to become the fastest selling PC game ever.

On Wednesday, Bungie caused a stir by registering a number of trademarks, including Osiris and Dead Orbit, that could be linked to the new game that the developer is preparing to create for Activsion, while Starcraft II got yet another patch that is mainly concerned with balancing the multiplayer experience.

Thursday was the day when rumors of a new Bond-based video game appeared, linked to the 2012 launch of a new movie in the series, while GSG has offered a load of new details linked to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

On Friday, the NPD Group released the data for December 2010, with the Xbox 360 and Call of Duty the best performers, while an inside source said the PSP 2 was as powerful as the PlayStation 3.
