Mass Effect 2 again

All through the week, we've detailed our experiences with Mass Effect 2 here at Softpedia in a series of game diaries set to continue in the next few days. But we have also had the time to write an EndWeekGame piece and to deliver another Weekend Reading piece. And, on top of all that, we have assembled a list of the most interesting news of the last seven days.

On Monday, we found out that Electronic Arts was set to release a free-to-play and browser game football simulation under the FIFA Online title, with a beta coming at some point during the year. Meanwhile, as Final Fantasy XIII was getting ready for a Western release, the developers revealed that it began as a PlayStation 2 game and that downloadable content would be delivered on the PS3.

On Tuesday, Mass Effect 2 was gain mentioned as BioWare confirmed that even as it was creating DLC content for the game, to be delivered in the coming months, it also started working on Mass Effect 3, which might arrive as soon as 2011. Another science fiction-based title, Classic Aliens vs. Predator, received a patch allowing players to engage in some multiplayer action.

On Wednesday, we found out that World of Warcraft was patched to version 3.32, with the Frostwing Halls opened up to players, while a Sony representative stunned fans of the series by announcing that Gran Turismo 5 would be out before Christmas. This time, the release date better be true.

Thursday was marked by the announcement that the Squad Rush multiplayer mode for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 would only be available for one full month for those who preordered the title at GameStop. All this while Final Fantasy XIII was confirmed as arriving on three disks on the Xbox 360.

On Friday, we learned about how Madden NFL 10 predicted the Sunday Superbowl game would end while also taking an early look at the new Aliens vs. Predator.
