The big news this week is that the fall launch season for big name video games is finally starting up, with the Eidos Montreal developed and Square Enix published Deus Ex: Human Revolution the first game to come out.

But before we start to talk about the likes of Battlefield 3, Gears of War 3 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (quite a lot of third installments this autumn), you can take a look at one Weekend Reading piece about price cuts and the lack of future though, another Weekend Reading about Origin and its feud with Steam and a EndWeekGame piece about what we plan to game with this weekend.

And, as always, we also have a number of news selected from the previous seven days.

On Monday, Nielsen, the tracking firm best known for its television ratings, has announced that, when it comes to minutes played, the Xbox 360 is the most popular console of the moment, while Microsoft announced that its home platform is set to get a new Dashboard interface before the end of this year.

On Tuesday, Blizzard talked a little about its DOTA project, saying that the game has suffered big transformations since it was initially shown off at Blizzcon last year.

CD Projekt also talked about the 2.0 update for The Witcher 2, saying that they have plans to introduce a better tutorial function for the newcomers.

On Wednesday, Epic Games announced that they have written two endings for Carmine in Gears of War 3 in order to protect against another leak while the boss of PlayStation Home announced that it would become a social gaming space.

On Thursday, BioWare talked about how The Old Republic is linked to the old Knight of the Old Republic series while Sony denied it has any intention to reduce the price of the PlayStation Vita.

On Friday, rumors about a new price drop for the Xbox 360 appeared while more details on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive surfaced.
