Kickstarter announces that during the past year, more than 8,000 gaming projects were offered on the site and that they managed to attract more than 202 million dollars (153 million Euro) from the fan communities built around them.

186 million dollars (138 million Euro) of those were actually collected by the teams after they managed to successfully reach their targets and are currently used to create games.

Pledges varied greatly depending on projects and Kickstarter says that more than 3 million people have contributed to at least one project in 2013.

The crowdfunding system allows teams to put together a pitch and present it to the public, asking for contributions and offering rewards for a variety of tiers of involvement from fans.

Pillars of Eternity, Broken Age, Massive Chalice and Wasteland 2 are some of the coming titles that have been funded via Kickstarter.
