Video game publisher Ubisoft informs that it is suspending development on the recently announced 1666, one of the titles that the company has picked up at auction from THQ with the intention of launching in the coming years.

During an investor call quoted by GamesIndustry.biz, the company failed to work with Patrice Desilets, the man leading the 1666 development team.

The game maker has been fired by Ubisoft, a company where he has previously worked on the first instances of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Yves Guillemot, the chief executive officer at the publisher, says that he had tried to find common ground with Desilets for more than two months before taking more drastic measures.

Apparently, the development process on 1666 is suspended rather than canceled in order to make sure that the intellectual property remains linked to Ubisoft and can be used at a future date.
