New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 2.6 (Dec 6, 2017)

  • New Hero: Brass:
  • Brass is a Master level engineer and considered one of the best in the Order. She is able to use her Blunderbuss, Dwarven Turret, and improvised demolition devices to keep her foes out of the rift.
  • New Feature: Custom Games:
  • This new feature is meant to address several key community requests: the ability to pick a specific map to play with other players, the ability to more easily play Endless and Chaos Trials with other players, and the ability to battle friends in Sabotage. We believe this addition will offer a tremendous benefit to the community.
  • New for Sabotage:
  • New Battleground: Castle Gates
  • New Consumable: Terracotta Giants
  • New Consumable: Elemental Mages
  • New Consumable: Hide Minimap
  • New: Chaos Trial Modifiers:
  • Additional Terracotta Giants
  • No Minimap in Combat
  • General:
  • Leaderboards will be reset with this update. Due to significant changes over multitudes of patches, the leaderboards have become out of date. This reset includes Survival, Chaos Trials, Sabotage, and Endless. Sabotage will require 5 placement matches to become ranked once again. Note that your old rank will be used to help seed your new rank.
  • The prologue is no longer presented to new players. Instead, the tutorial is now presented to players and will automatically launch upon logging in for the first time.
  • Midnight Market and Water Garden have been made significantly easier on all difficulties.
  • Par time made significantly easier for Master Water Garden.
  • The "Cheap Support Traps" modifier now reduces cost by 75%, up from 50%.
  • The "Expensive Barricades" modifier now increases cost by 170%, down from 200%.
  • Second dyes have been added for several heroes!
  • Brass and Deadeye have dyes added to the Tough Guy chest.
  • Temper has a dye added to the Masquerade chest.
  • Tundra has a dye added to the Costume Trunk chest.
  • Dobbin has a dye added to the Winter chest.
  • Music:
  • Now returns to lower-intensity music during go-breaks.
  • Several new simple rhythms have been added for go-break variation.
  • Guardians:
  • No longer have a placement limit. Previously, 2 guardians were available per player.
  • Guardians now have an increasing cost of placement with each guardian placed on the team. Free/250/500/1000/2000/4000/etc.The purchased guardian potion consumable with unlimited uses now provides TWO free guardians (up from 1).
  • Developer Comment: We've been searching for the right way to adjust the difficulty of solo play for a while. This change simultaneously adds more decision making to guardian placement, while lowering the difficulty of managing multiple lanes for solo players.
  • Balance Changes:
  • Gabriella:
  • When standing still, Blink will now default to backwards.Developer Comment: We've heard a lot of feedback about the recent changes to blink. This is a compromise to help players who are accustomed to the old functionality.
  • Deadeye:
  • Now receives a 20% discount on Boom Barrels.Developer Comment: This trap is already very powerful, but we wanted to give Deadeye a special incentive to use this under-valued trap. When standing still, "Outta the Way" will now default to backwards.Developer Comment: Similar to Blink, the same justification applies to "Outta the Way".
  • Maximillian:
  • Can now place Decoys for free, instead of receiving a 25% bonus to their health.Developer Comment: Similar to the Deadeye trap affiliation, we wanted to give Max a little more incentive to use this under-valued trap.
  • Tundra, Bloodspike, and Hogarth:
  • No longer stop moving when attacking with primary attack.Developer Comment: This has been constant feedback from the community. While there are differing opinions on this change, we believe it will make the largest amount of players happy.
  • Brimstone:
  • Recharge rate increased to 0.21 from 0.13.Developer Comment: Brimstone is currently less valuable than other similarly priced traps. These changes should help.
  • Fire Cracker:
  • Initial charges increased to 8, from 5.Developer Comment: Fire Cracker is currently less valuable than other similarly priced traps. These changes should help.
  • Floor Scorcher:
  • Cooldown increased to 7.4, from 6.6.Developer Comment: Conversely, Floor Scorcher is currently far more valuable than other similarly priced traps. These changes should help.
  • Ceiling Ballista and Dragon Lance:
  • Damage increased by 20%.Cooldown increased by 20%.
  • Developer Comment: This change is designed to further accentuate the ballista's role as a large minion killer.
  • Boulder Chute:
  • Cost reduced to 0 (from 750).
  • Now drops 4 waves, up from 3.Now has a placement limit of 4.
  • Developer Comment: These traps are already, by far, the most cost-efficient traps in the game. However, due to their power being heavily limited by manual activation, there's no reason to not further reward players for taking the time to micromanage these traps.
  • Icicle Impaler:
  • Cost reduced to 500 (from 1000).
  • Now drops 4 waves, up from 3.Now has a placement limit of 4.
  • Developer Comment: See boulder chute explanation.
  • Quarter Pounder:
  • Now stuns minions for 0.75 seconds, in addition to its existing effects.Developer Comment: Similar to the Boulder Chute, this trap is already very cost-efficient. However, due to its size, it is rarely able to be used. There's a low risk of making this trap too powerful and mandatory, so this buff should really help you feel its strength whenever you find a good place to use it.
  • Power Generator:
  • Now gains 8% additional coin per tier, down from 15%.No longer returns coin when sold.
  • Developer Comment: Unlike health and damage, players do not need additional coin to keep up with higher minion levels. As it stands, Power Generator becomes exceptionally strong on end-game content. In addition, the ability to sell the Power Generator for full value eliminates the early-late game trade-off that the trap was designed to create. These changes should allow the trap to better fulfill its intended role.
  • Big Game Hunter Zapper:
  • Damage increased by 60%.Developer Comment: This is the least used of the Big Game Hunter traps. Due to its requirement that enemies remain underneath it, this trap is being buffed.
  • Healing Well and Mana Well:
  • Cooldown reduced to 3 seconds (from 15).Developer Comment: These traps are incredibly powerful, however, the Mending Root and the Mage's Clover compete heavily with these traps. We hope that this change will allow players to begin substituting in other gear, when using these traps.
  • Trap Parts:
  • Many of these triggers feel like they change the trap, rather than improve the trap. We really want to encourage players to use triggers, so we are going to make many triggers also provide a sizable buff.
  • Ambush Trigger:
  • Now also increases trap damage by 25%.
  • Crowd Control Trigger:
  • Now also increases trap damage by 10%.
  • Execution Trigger:
  • Now also increases trap damage by 25%.
  • Heavy Pressure Plate:
  • Now also increases trap damage by 25%.
  • Light Pressure Plate:
  • Now also increases trap damage by 15%.
  • Combo Generator:
  • Now also increases trap damage by 10%.
  • Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where Terracotta Giants were showing as small icons on the minimap.
  • Fixed several trap grid issues on the new "Wu Xing Battle" battlegrounds.
  • Fixed an issue where scrolling in the dashboard and changing categories could cause items to become hidden.

  • Fixed an issue where lightning effects could persist when shooting the "Dwarf Shaman Merc".

  • Fixed an issue where Terracotta Giant was spell incorrectly in several locations.
  • Fixed an issue where Fire Lord was missing a description in the notable enemies section.
  • Fixed an issue where Kinetic Resonator And Control Resonator was not working on all traps it could be applied to.

  • Fixed pathing loops on Maximum Security and Castle Gates.
  • Fixed invisible geometry on "The Baths", causing specific ceiling locations to not function properly for ceiling traps.

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 2.5 (Oct 26, 2017)

  • New Hero: Yi-Lin:
  • Yi-Lin is a quick, melee hero who uses her twin swords to devastating effect. Her use of combos can deal devastating damage as well as provide regeneration making her a true force to be reckoned with.
  • Yi-Lin is not just any accomplished fighter. This woman out of time was the greatest and most loyal warrior fighting in service of her friend, Chang’E, Empress of the White Tiger Empire. In centuries past, the White Tiger Empire and its allies were threatened by certain destruction as orcs and other invaders poured into their kingdoms from the Dark World. Seeing no other solution, the dwarves of Thuricvod evacuated the stone halls of their home on Centre. Fleeing to the safety of their homeworld and collapsing the portals behind them to cut off the invading forces left the White Tiger Empire with few options for its defense and even fewer allies.
  • Desperate for a solution to protect her people and preserve her empire, Chang’E forged new alliances and agreed to share her powerful rift magic in exchange for the White Tiger Empire’s relocation into the clouds in a bargain with the Jade Rabbits. But the Empire’s preservation came at a high cost for Yi-Lin. Left behind as the eternal guardian of the final rift to the reborn Cloud Tiger Empire, Yi-Lin transformed into the Jade Sentinel she had previously been in name only and began her watch over the Lotus Temple.
  • For over one thousand years Yi-Lin stood vigilant, waiting. Now a shadowy figure known only as “Reve” has unleashed unstable rifts on the Lotus Temple, renewing the ancient assault on the White Tiger Empire with the hope of reaching their new empire in the clouds. Yi-Lin, the Jade Sentinel has awoken to defend Centre once more against the hordes of orcs, soldiers, and her old enemies – the Wu Xing Dynasty. Learn more in our Designing Yi-Lin[orcsmustdie.com] blog!
  • New Faction: Wu Xing - Masters of the Five Elements:
  • Wu Xing Soldiers: These soldiers come in four forms: light, medium, heavy, and ranged. All of the soldiers have magic armor, making physical damage optimal in defeating them.
  • Terracotta Giant: These slow-moving stone giants do not attack players. Instead, they perform a steady march to the rift, slowing any player that gets too close.
  • Red Panda: Despite being called the Red Panda, these minions are actually blue! Be careful, these minions cast a powerful speed buff on allied minions.
  • Water Dragon: This hunter minion focuses on players. Unlike other Hunter minions, this minion has a splash attack, damaging all players within a cone in front of him.
  • Elemental Mages: These mages throw bouncing orbs of elemental energy.
  • New Battlegrounds:
  • Water Garden - Survival (Apprentice and Master):
  • The water gardens of the White Tiger Empire appear to be closest to the first attacks by the Wu Xing Dynasty. Defend three breaches to the best of your ability without too much help from wall traps.
  • Castle Gates - Survival (Master and Rift Lord), Sabotage, and Endless:
  • Breaching the Castle Gates is a solid strategy for the Wu Xing Dynasty. Once inside, defending this open map will be a challenge. Funneling the front gates to one side is imperative.
  • Midnight Market - Survival (Warmage and Rift Lord) and Sabotage:
  • These marketplaces of the White Tiger Empire are popular night spots. This seems to be exactly why the Wu Xing Dynasty has chosen to attack them so aggressively.
  • New Feature: Discord Integration:
  • Discord has remained one of the most popular modes of communication for OMD!U. This integration will make communication and community building easier than ever!
  • New Feature: Weekly Challenge Matchmaking:
  • The community has requested this feature for quite a while. We are happy to deliver this highly anticipated feature!

  • New themed skins have been added for Tundra, Ivy, Midnight, Smolder, and Hogarth.

  • "Additional Rift Points" will now be paired with easier modifiers, on average.
  • "Coin Drain" rate has been reduced by 15%.
  • "Additional Order Mages" will no longer roll on Apprentice and Warmage Chaos Keys.
  • Firelings:
  • Health reduced by 70%.
  • Speed reduced by 30%.
  • Now only spawn 1 Fireling when a Fire Elemental dies.
  • Now more reliably wait 1 second before detonating. When spawning directly from a door, firelings will now play a spawn sound.
  • Developer Comment: Firelings were always intended to attack barricades, but when we fixed the bug in the last patch, they became far too powerful. These changes pull back on the strength of firelings dramatically.
  • Oziel:
  • Soul collection radius increased 75%.
  • Fixed an issue where the "Jagged Shards" weaver upgrade was not providing the correct amount of damage.
  • Sabotage:
  • Teleportation Staff teleport delay reduced to 3 seconds (from 5).Teleportation Staff will now expire after 90 seconds, regardless of whether or not it is destroyed.
  • Developer Comment: This change allows the teleportation staff to be useful, even when a teammate does not have a consumable to apply control effects to an enemy. In addition, in order to allow melee heroes to deal with this staff, it will now expire after 90 seconds, if not killed.
  • Minions summoned via consumables no longer reward coin or experience. Base bounties increased in Sabotage to compensate.
  • Developer Comment: This change helps create comebacks by making powerful cards more powerful. In addition, this change also helps solve some inadvertent/unfun strategies that would result in neither team sending minions until sudden death.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Elemental minions will no longer replicate when killed by being knocked off the map. Developer Comment: after we fixed this bug, we noticed that many maps need their kill volumes to be updated. As a result, this can still occur, but it will happen much less frequently. Expect more updates in the future on this issue.
  • Fixed an issue where the Serpent Guardian was still being listed as promotional.

  • New: Sabotage Consumables:
  • Frost Giants

  • Teleportation Staff: Drops a staff that will teleport enemies to a random location if they stay within its area for several seconds.
  • New: Skins:
  • Skins have been added for the following heroes: Smolder, Hogarth, Ivy, Stinkeye, Max, Tundra, Cygnus, Midnight, Gabby, Bloodspike, Bionka.
  • Note: Not all of the skins will be available on patch launch. Many will be enabled over the coming weeks. In addition, many of the skins do not yet have preview videos.
  • Additional Patch Notes Since Last Update:
  • There have been several patches since the previous update that have introduced changes to OMDU. Here is what you may have missed
  • Apprentice Hero victory chests now drop 2 cards, instead of 1.
  • Oziel max soul stacks increased to 300 (from 75).
  • Steam Trading Cards have been added to OMDU!
  • Sabotage matches will occasionally launch 1v1.
  • General:
  • Control resistance now reduces the magnitude of slows, rather than the duration.
  • MANY achievements have had rewards added to them. These rewards are retroactive.
  • Serpent Guardian (formerly a promotional item) has been added to War Mage, Master, and Rift Lord chests.
  • Trigger parts no longer drop in apprentice and warmage chests.
  • Players may now re-roll each quest once per day, rather than a single quest.
  • "Win 2 Sabotage Games" daily quest has been changed to "Kill 450 minions in Sabotage".
  • "Win 5 Matchmade Games" daily quest has been changed to "Kill 1200 minions".
  • Terminology for abilities has been updated to "primary attack, secondary ability, third ability, fourth ability, and fifth ability."
  • Leaving a Sabotage game will now cause you to lose rank.
  • Fixed a bug where Kobolds were 20% faster than intended.
  • User Interface:
  • A Refer-a-Friend link is now visible in the friends list.
  • Quests have been added to the daily login reward pop-up on login.
  • Quests now have minion icons and ability icons to better indicate completion requirements.
  • The dashboard no longer minimizes when launching a game.
  • The splash image for launching games has been removed.
  • Damage, coin, and combo fly-offs have been revamped! These fly-offs are much smoother and have a much smaller performance footprint.
  • When players leave in non-Sabotage games, a message is now displayed, indicating that the game has re-balanced.
  • Many dashboard elements now have a higher resolution.
  • Sabotage enemy mini-maps are now slightly more opaque.
  • New loading screens have been added to the first three maps of apprentice and the first map of warmage.
  • Art/Audio:
  • Explosion sounds have been updated. There's fewer duplicate explosion sounds; sounds are now more unique.
  • New sounds have been added for when players teleport through portals.
  • Chaos Trials:
  • Lower difficulty Chaos Keys will drop on average. This does not affect players level 55+.
  • Purchased Chaos Keys can now be re-rolled for whatever currency they are purchased with (gibs or gold).
  • Unstable Rifts now gain less health with each tier in Chaos Trials.
  • Balance Changes:
  • Medium Earth Elemental:
  • Health reduced by 20%.
  • Deadeye:
  • Infamy no longer reduces the damage of Deadeye's primary attack against a single target.
  • Infamy splash damage lowered by 25%.
  • Developer Comment: This change was based on community feedback. Players didn't like that there was a trade-off to obtaining infamy stacks. As a result, the buff now simply adds area damage, rather than also reducing primary damage.
  • Bouncing Bomb cooldown reduced to 9 seconds (from 12 seconds).
  • "More Misdeeds" weaver upgrade no longer provides cooldown reduction for Bouncing Bomb. This was not intended.
  • "Hip Shot" buff duration increased to 5 seconds (from 2 seconds).
  • "Hip Shot" damage bonus decreased to 20% (from 50%).
  • Developer Comment: This change was based on community feedback. Players didn't like that Deadeye needed to use her dive skill off of every cooldown in order to maximize her damage. As a result, the buff now persists longer than the cooldown of the skill.
  • "Outta the Way" roll speed increased by 50%. Distance remains unchanged.
  • "Outta the Way" now provides invulnerability for its duration.
  • Developer Comment: This change was based on community feedback. Many players commented that Deadeye's dive skill didn't really feel like it gained her distance. In addition, many players noted that they were taking massive hits while diving, which is what the skill is intended to avoid. As a result, we have increased the dive speed and made the skill provide invulnerability while active.
  • Gabriella:
  • Devious Allure cooldown reduced to 12 seconds (from 15).
  • Devious Allure cancel slow duration increased to 3 seconds (from 2).
  • Developer Comment: We have decided to make Devious Allure a more "attractive" skill to use. Many players are avoiding using the ability entirely right now, especially in group play.
  • 1st weaver upgrade now also provides 50% mana cost reduction to Blink.
  • Final weaver upgrade cooldown reduced to 15 seconds.
  • Blink now teleports you in the direction you are moving.
  • Developer Comment: Players have asked for the ability to more easily control the direction of Gabby's blink for a long time. Our argument used to be that we liked the skill ceiling associated with teleporting backwards. However, since we made her a starting hero, we decided to revisit the design decision. We hope this will make the ability more useful at all levels of play. Be warned, it can take a bit of getting used to if you are accustomed to the old functionality.
  • Hogarth:
  • AMBUSH! cooldown reduction weaver upgrade changed to 50%, rather than 5 seconds. This results in no effect on the power of the skill unless stacked with other cooldown reduction sources.
  • Maximilian:
  • In Your Faces cooldown reduced to 12.5 seconds (from 14).
  • In Your Faces mana cost lowered to 45 (from 50).
  • Absolutely Stunning Bolt cooldown reduced to 11 seconds (from 12).
  • Absolutely Stunning Bolt mana cost reduced to 45 (from 50).
  • Primary attack damage increased by 10%.
  • Developer Comment: Maximilian is simply weaker than many of the other heroes in the game. Since he is also a starter hero, we want to prioritize a few all-around buffs.
  • Oziel:
  • Passive updated: Now gains 5% max mana with each battle level.
  • Soul stack messaging has been moved to "Haunting Spirits".
  • Fixed a bug causing Oziel to gain far too many stacks from "Vexing Surge".
  • Fixed a bug where Oziel would not gain the full number of souls from certain weaver upgrades.
  • Fixed a bug where certain effects would not trigger if a minion was killed with Haunting Spirits active.
  • Developer Comment: We revamped Oziel in patch 2.3. These changes were oriented around making him more useful in modes other than Endless and Rift Lord levels. However, we also recognize that this has made the hero more generic. As a result, we made several changes based on community feedback: Bringing back scaling mana (but not damage) and increasing his soul cap to 300.
  • Smolder:
  • Fixed an issue where Smolder's mana costs were higher than intended.
  • Ballistas:
  • Re-fire delay slowed by 10%.
  • Developer Comment: While this is likely a change that will have mixed reception, we have been struggling to make other ceiling traps (and other traps in general) compete with the Ballista. As a result, we are making a small nerf to the ballista traps and making many other options SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful. In addition, we have also made other ceiling traps more accessible on high ceilings by increasing their range.
  • Big-Game Zapper:
  • Vertical range increased by 1.
  • Cost reduced to 500 (from 1000).
  • Brimstone:
  • Damage reduced by 5%.
  • Cursed Ground:
  • Cooldown lowered to 15 seconds (from 36).

  • Cost reduced to 750 (from 1000).
  • Fire Cracker:
  • Damage reduced by 5%.
  • Floor Scorcher:
  • Re-trigger delay slowed by 20%.
  • Damage increased by 10%.
  • Ice Vent:
  • Charges increased to 30 (from 25).
  • Lightning Rod:
  • Vertical range increased by 1.
  • Overload Trap:
  • No longer disables floor traps that do not deal damage.
  • Trigger delay increased by 1 second.

  • Buff duration increased to 24 seconds (from 15).
  • Shock Zapper:
  • Vertical range increased by 1.
  • Damage increased to 400 (from 350).
  • Floor Spikes:
  • Damage lowered by 5%.
  • Summoner Trap:
  • Damage increased by 40%.
  • Trip Wire:
  • Placement collision reduced to a 2 trap width (from 3). Effect area remains the same.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug where Arcane Phaser would regain its charges during Go-Breaks.
  • Fixed a bug where "Spudging Pickups" would cause Bloodspike's pigs to cause him to become spudged.
  • Fixed an issue where minions were getting stuck in walls regularly.
  • Fixed a bug where Stunning Accumulator was affecting all minions, rather than flipped minions.
  • Ring of Last Stand now properly provides 3 seconds of immunity. It was only providing 1.5 seconds before.
  • Smolder's passive no longer knocks back mercenaries.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing hero death sounds not to play.

  • Many ability tooltip fixes

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 2.3 (Jul 21, 2017)

  • New Hero: Deadeye:
  • Deadeye is an infamous outlaw with a bounty on her head. With each kill, she becomes stronger and more infamous. Her dual crossbows and explosive arrows make her a force to be reckoned with.
  • Half elf and half orc, Deadeye was adopted into the elven community of the First Grove as a child and raised as Galadra the trueshot. Accused of her adoptive mother High Warden Naya’s brutal murder, Galadra was narrowly apprehended by Ivy, Warden of the First Grove, losing her right eye in the process and becoming Galadra the Deadeye.
  • New Feature: Community Challenges:
  • Exciting news, War Mages! In-game events have been a frequent question and discussion topic within the OMDU community and this update finally delivers a lot of the technology we need to create fun in-game events.
  • We'll have a lot more to share about this in the coming weeks as we run a few smaller events before rolling out an Endless Summer event later this year. Well, later this summer to be more specific!
  • Here's what we can tell you now. We will be running some events in the future that will provide increased rewards to players. Bonus XP, bonus skulls, that sort of thing. We'll also be running collaborative events for the entire community that will provide extra chests or even unique vanity rewards for participation or successful completion.
  • New Feature: Pause:

  • War Mage Restricted Section waves 3-6 have fewer minions.
  • Master Stables of Eventide wave 2 difficulty reduced. Final wave made more challenging.
  • Master Falling Folly difficulty reduced across most waves.
  • Master Orc-rila difficulty increased SLIGHTLY on most waves.
  • Control immunity now blocks all knockbacks. Control resistance continues to NOT modify knockbacks.
  • Stables of Eventide pathing updated.
  • Confluence and Crogon Keep have had metal grates added to the Rift Room to prevent exploits with barricades.
  • Chaos Trials:
  • 1 Rift Point modifier increased to 5 Rift Points.
  • "No Go-Breaks" will be paired with easier modifiers, on average.
  • "No Go-Breaks" and "Additional TNT Archers" will no longer appear in Apprentice or War Mage Chaos Trials.
  • "Double Cost Floor Traps" will be paired with easier modifiers, on average.
  • "Double Cost Floor Traps" and "Double Cost Barricades" can no longer roll together.
  • Several bonus minion modifiers will be paired with harder modifiers, on average.
  • "5 Rift Points" and "Rift Point Loss on Death" can no longer roll together.
  • "5x Unchained Drops" increased to 10x.
  • Persistent Barricade Rubble, No Health Drops, and No Mana Drops will roll less often.
  • Fast Minions, Fast Heroes, and Bonus Rift Points will roll more often.
  • "Spudging Pickups" debuff duration reduced to 5 seconds (from 10). Slow amount increased to 40% (from 20%).
  • "Additional Shield Trolls" now properly spawns all shield trolls, rather than half shield trolls and half dwarf shaman.
  • Developer Comment: In general, we want to avoid rules that prevent certain modifiers from rolling together. However, in this case, we believe a few overly powerful combinations can be toned back.
  • UI:
  • Players can now buy bundles of chests in addition to individual chests.
  • Party members can now see their party leader's Chaos Keys.
  • High-resolution dashboard now displays more cards within the workshop and store simultaneously.
  • When you do not receive a modifier after upgrading a chaos key, "Free Pass" will be displayed.
  • Whispers have been split into multiple tabs.
  • Whispers no longer automatically close when a player logs off.
  • Whispers can now be manually closed.
  • Audio:
  • An announcer line has been added for "Our traps are being disabled".
  • The iMage now has multiple lines upon death, conveying whether or not you killed the real iMage or not.
  • Remastered OMD2 music has been added to OMD!U. Even MORE music improvements are coming in the future.
  • The post-game screen for Chaos Keys have new sound effects!
  • Balance Changes:
  • Fire/Frost Ogres:
  • No longer have 50 physical armor.
  • Health increased by 10%.
  • Gnoll Breeder:
  • Health reduced by 10%.
  • Teacup gnoll damage reduced by 20%.
  • Teacup gnolls will now enter the rift (but not score rift points).
  • Bionka:
  • Primary attack now deals 30% increased damage.
  • Primary attack damage fall-off increased to 45% (from 33%).
  • Developer Comment: The previous Bionka nerfs went a bit too far against single targets. This change maintains Bionka's area damage, while increasing her single target damage.
  • Gabriella:
  • Blink now restores 30% of Gabriella's health.
  • Devious Allure now slows enemies by 40% for 2 seconds if canceled early by damage.
  • Developer Comment: Gabby's skillset is a fun one - However, as many people have pointed out, her skills are too conditional. These changes are aimed at providing buffing Gabriella in a way that provides her skills with greater opportunity for use.
  • Hogarth:
  • Speed increased by 10%.Developer Comment: We heard your feedback regarding the recent Hogarth jump change. As a result, we have decided to increase his mobility to compensate.
  • Ivy:
  • Penetrating Shot is now capped at 8 targets (from 10).Developer Comment: Ivy very rarely hits 8 enemies with her penetrating shot, so this change is very small.
  • Smolder:
  • Heart of Flame mana cost lowered to 10 per second (from 12).
  • Dragon's Breath mana cost lowered to 16 per second (from 18).
  • Range on Incinerate increased to 5000 (from 1500).
  • Developer Comment: Smolder is a fun hero to play for many people. However, her overall damage is a little low given her lack of control. We have decided to buff her ability up-time.
  • Stinkeye:
  • Stinkeye's double Zephyr of Oasis weaver upgrade has been reworked: Now causes the totem's stun to slow minions by 50% after the stun ends.
  • Attack totem damage reduced by 30%. We fixed a bug in the last patch that caused stinkeye to deal FAR more damage. As a result, he is now over-tuned.
  • Developer Comment: It was very hard to gain the benefits of Stinkeye's previous upgrade. However, this new upgrade is easier to use, but provides less peak power.
  • Tundra:
  • Primary attack is now capped at 8 targets (from 10).Developer Comment: Tundra very rarely hits 8 enemies with his primary attack. Furthermore, the damage falloff on his primary attack makes this change incredibly small, and only noticeable in rare scenarios.
  • Oziel:
  • Oziel passive reworked: No longer gains max mana with each soul stack. Instead, Oziel now deals high damage from the beginning of the game. Upon acquiring 75 soul stacks, Oziel may consume them to use his "Haunting Spirits" ability.
  • Haunting Spirits no longer has a cooldown.
  • Base mana increased to 300 from 160.
  • Weavers 8 and 12 swapped position. Vexing Surge now provides a soul upon hitting an enemy.
  • Developer Comment: We initially designed the soul mechanic to make Oziel to play as a carry. However, in the current incarnation of the game, this design doesn't really fit. These changes should make Oziel more powerful at the start of the game and more enjoyable to play.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where using consumables would be blocked by other actions.
  • Fixed several issues related to kill-screen information being incorrect or missing.
  • Fixed an issue where barricade rubble could disrupt destroyer pathing.
  • Fixed an issue where movement abilities could break camera disabling effects.
  • Fixed an issue where trap projections would remain after a player disconnects.
  • Fixed a bug where Sabotage could randomly select consumables that shouldn't be available on waves 1-4.
  • Fixed an issue where the iMage would loiter behind purple barriers.
  • Alt-K no longer activates Smolder's passive

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 2.2 (Jun 16, 2017)

  • NEW MODE: Chaos Trials:
  • Chaos Trials are a new and exciting way to play Survival. Players will occasionally discover "Chaos Keys" when playing matches in Survival, Sabotage, Endless, and Weekly Challenges (they have a random chance to be acquired after a match). These keys will have an associated challenge level (Apprentice, War Mage, Master, and Rift Lord) as well as random additional modifiers for playing a map within those difficulties.
  • Each time a team (1-3 players) defeats a chaos trial tier, their chaos key will be upgraded, adding additional modifiers into the mix. However, be careful, each chaos key only has three lives!
  • Chaos Trials are the most rewarding way to play OMD!U. They offer a chest after every victory including increasing number of skulls based on how far you get. Furthermore, Chaos Trials feature a leaderboard to track your best performance relative to other players.
  • Chaos Keys can be randomly discovered through playing other modes, by completing certain achievements, through daily login rewards, or via the Premium Shoppe and store.
  • NEW MERCENARY: The iMage:
  • The iMage is an enemy that splits into multiple variations: Arcane, Fire, Frost, and Lightning. Each variation fires a unique ranged attack. However, only one of these illusions is the real mercenary and it must be slain to defeat the iMage.
  • NEW FEATURE: Full Screen Dashboard and Updated Play Screen:
  • We've heard from many players that the game needs a full screen dashboard. You asked and we listened. This first iteration of the full screen dashboard will make everything scale to fit your screen, however, future iterations will actually begin redesigning the dashboard for a dedicated full-screen experience.
  • We have also revamped the play screen to make it easier to discover the modes that OMD!U has to offer. Check it out below!
  • NEW FOR SABOTAGE: Map and Consumables:
  • Academy Sewers is now available in Sabotage!
  • Polymorph Chicken: select one enemy hero and turn him or her into a chicken.
  • Immolation Staff: places a staff on the enemy team’s battleground that damages barricades, decoys, and summoner trap retainers.
  • Armored Giants: Summons a medium-sized army of armored giants.
  • NEW FOR SABOTAGE: Additional Base Deck Consumables:
  • Guardian Potion
  • Minion Stealth
  • Satyrs
  • Pride Hunters
  • NEW: Premium Shoppe Skins:
  • Dragon Tamer Ivy
  • Dragon Ward Hogarth
  • GENERAL:
  • Pressing Alt-K to kill your hero now requires a 5-second cast.
  • The survival experience quest has been changed to: Win 5 Survival Matchmade Games. Reward: Chest.
  • MATCHMAKING:
  • Sabotage matchmaking will now pick easier battlegrounds when there is a high skill separation between players.
  • Players will now lose rank for leaving/disconnecting from a game.
  • Sabotage matchmaking will now more aggressively try to create games with:
  • Similar account level
  • Similar skill level
  • Similar party size
  • Developer Comment: We have been hearing lots of complaints surrounding matchmaking. These changes should make matches fairer, however, they could potentially increase queue times, so we will be monitoring the status of matchmaking closely.
  • USER INTERFACE:
  • We have added new visual indicators during the match which highlight the players that have taken the most damage, dealt the most trap damage, or dealt the most hero damage. These badges will update in real time during the game.
  • 4 new titles have been added to the game, available to everyone.
  • We have increased the maximum number of loadouts to 14 (from 8).
  • Player rating on the tab screen and post-game stats have been removed.
  • Players can now enable a game/par timer to be visible at all times via the options menu.
  • Receiving a party invite will now provide a toast notification, rather than a pop-up. This is designed to reduce interruptions in the dashboard.
  • When deleting and adding friends, the friends list will now remain open. This makes it less tedious to make multiple modifications.
  • We have updated minion consumable card backs to have more information regarding minion keywords/skills.
  • Enemy team stats are no longer displayed in Sabotage. These stats were providing the wrong impression because higher level teams face minions with greater health.
  • An alpha slider has been added to chat. Chat is now more transparent by default.
  • Party chat will now automatically open when joining a party.
  • Guardian text during the loadout phase of pre-game now shows abilities.
  • Minion portals will now appear red during go-breaks if they will spawn immediately after the go-break.
  • The game is now available in Russian and Spanish!
  • SOUNDS AND EFFECTS:
  • In-game music has been updated with more tracks. Existing tracks have been rock-ified. Additional changes are coming in the future.
  • The visuals for all staffs in Sabotage have been updated.
  • Fireling death effects are now much clearer.
  • SABOTAGE:
  • Sabotage now requires players to be account level 5. If you group with other players who are higher level, we ignore this restriction.
  • The countdown timer during hero select has been reduced by 30 seconds.
  • The countdown timer during the first go-break has been reduced by 30 seconds in Sabotage only.
  • The go-break timer between waves has been increased to 45 seconds (from 30) for apprentice maps.
  • Many Sabotage consumable achievements have been made easier to complete.
  • Sudden death now provides increasing control resistance to minions.
  • Most minion consumables have had their minion count increased by 25 to 50%, with the exception of base set kobolds, mages, and gnolls.
  • Powerful consumables are now less likely to appear during the early game.
  • Throne Room has been made significantly more challenging in Sabotage.
  • Banquet Hall sudden death has been made more challenging in high difficulties.
  • "The Bomb" spell timer has been reduced to 4 seconds, from 5.
  • "More Aggro" spell now increases aggro by an additional 50%.
  • "Coin Drain Aura" now drains twice as much coin each second. However, its duration has been reduced to 10 seconds, from 20.
  • Spell consumables that deal damage now deal damage as percent health.
  • Many waves have been updated. In general, early waves are easier, while later waves are harder.
  • Developer Comment: These changes are designed to do a few things:
  • Reduce the number of games that end on wave 1 or 2.
  • Create more comebacks. We know it stinks to lose a few rift points early and feel unable to score later in the match.
  • Make consumables feel more impactful. We know it can feel unimpactful to use many spells/minions, so we targeted a series of changes to improve them.
  • ENDLESS:
  • Now provides increasing control resistance to minions every wave after wave 25.
  • The score bonus for completing a wave has been decreased to 5%, from 15%. As a result of this change, we are wiping Endless leaderboards with patch 2.2.
  • SURVIVAL:
  • Reduced the difficulty of wave 3 on Banquet Hall (Apprentice), wave 5 of Highlands (Apprentice), wave 3 of Restricted Section (War Mage), and wave 7 of Temple Graveyard (War Mage).
  • The first go-break is now properly twice as long in solo games.
  • Orcrila pathing has been updated.
  • Several par times have been made easier.
  • Several maps in Apprentice have been made more challenging for 2 and 3 player parties.
  • Teacup Gnoll Breeder:
  • Teacup Gnolls no longer mini-stun their target for 0.1 seconds on attack.
  • Heroes:
  • Bloodspike:
  • Increased the attack width of his primary attack by 25%.
  • Mana increased to 200 (from 185).
  • Delicious Meals now restore 3x as much health and now also reduce Bloodspike's cooldowns by 5% when consumed.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Bloodspike to receive less than the intended amount of max health when collecting delicious meals with the corresponding weaver upgrade.
  • Developer Comment: Bloodspike's Delicious Meals have been nearly unnoticeable for quite a while. These changes will help them become far more relevant. In addition, the wider attack width should help with some surrounding criticisms regarding his primary attack's difficulty of use.
  • Hogarth:
  • Lowered the range of Hogarth's leap by a large amount. This is intended to buff the usability of his skill to hit minions, rather than act as a nerf.
  • Hogarth's shield now slows nearby enemies by 25% for its duration.
  • Hogarth's first weaver upgrade now causes his shield to slow fast minions by twice as much.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing Hogarth's aggro bonus weaver upgrade to not apply the full 40% bonus.
  • Developer Comment: We want Hogarth to be a tank and control king. However, he is still lacking in this area, so we have buffed his baseline utility in these areas.
  • Ivy:
  • All upgrades associated with Ivy's "Life Current" ability will now apply to Ivy IN ADDITION to allies, rather than only allies.
  • Nature's Swiftness now increases allied movement speed by 30% (up from 15%).
  • Warden's Tutelage now decreases the mana cost of Penetrating Shot by -20 (from -15).
  • Life Current now restores +50% more health per second.
  • Life Current radius increased by 100%.
  • Reach of Roots cooldown increased to 14 seconds (from 12).
  • Reach of Roots now reduces enemy armor by -50 (improved from -40).
  • The Natural Knack upgrade now reduces the cooldown of Reach of Roots by 15% (down from 25%).
  • Developer Comment: Ivy is currently acting as a "one trick pony" oriented around Reach of Roots. These changes are designed to open up more build options for Ivy without changing her overall power level.
  • Ivy's passive no longer triggers when she is low on health. Instead, it now provides her with a movement speed bonus when she spawns or re-spawns.
  • Ivy passive cooldown removed.
  • Developer Comment: The lack of control over Ivy's passive has been a subject of criticism for some time. It often triggers at unexpected times, making it hard to utilize its benefit. This change is designed to allow Ivy to get greater use of her passive.
  • Oziel:
  • Increased all damage by 12%.
  • Smolder:
  • Reduced the cooldown of "From The Ashes" passive to 90 seconds (from 150).
  • Developer Comment: This change allows Smolder to play more aggressively without constant fear of dying. Furthermore, this improves weaver builds oriented around Smolder's passive.
  • Traps and Trap Parts:
  • Decoy:
  • Cost reduced to 300 coin (from 700).
  • Summoner Trap:
  • Cost reduced to 2000 coin (from 3000).
  • Power Generator:
  • Cooldown now resets at the start of a wave, rather than after 50 seconds.
  • Unchained Resonator Part:
  • Increased by 300%.
  • Vanity Plating:
  • Experience gain increased by 40%.
  • Revenge Rune Part:
  • Now deals 75% of minion health (from 100%).
  • Reflective Armor Part:
  • Now reflects 200% of damage (from 50%).
  • Mana Siphon Part:
  • Now restores half as much mana.
  • Health Siphon Part:
  • Now restores half as much health.
  • Ice Resonator Part:
  • Increases damage by 90% (from 70%).
  • Fire Resonator Part:
  • Increases damage by 30% (from 35%).
  • Control Resonator Part:
  • Increases damage by 30% (from 35%).
  • Bounty Generator Part:
  • Increases bounty by 2% (from 1%).
  • Cap changed to 20% (from 50%).
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where clicking "Buy Now" under "How to Obtain" caused the dashboard to become stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where base set consumables would show up as owned during loadout select.
  • Fixed several issues with minion clipping on Orcri-la.
  • Fixed an issue where opening chat before receiving messages could cause scrolling to behave improperly.
  • Fixed an issue where consumables had a larger area than displayed.
  • Fixed an issue where changing whisper targets while the dashboard is loading could cause the player drop-down to disappear.
  • Fixed an issue where trap projections could persist forever.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Tundra's defeat animation to play incorrectly when using the War Chief skin.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Ivy's defeat animation to play incorrectly when using the Valkyrie skin.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause heroes to flash during their defeat animation.
  • Fixed an issue where your cursor could remain on screen during Sabotage.
  • Fixed a bug where Wall Building PhD would not provide the full amount of health regeneration.
  • Fixed a bug where party chat was not cleared upon leaving a party.
  • Fixed several bugs related to minion card back information for sabotage consumables.
  • Fixed a bug where barricade destroying minions would occasionally not target barricades when they should.
  • Fixed many tooltips associated with tier upgrades

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 2.1 (May 16, 2017)

  • NEW FEATURE: Premium Shoppe:
  • We have a new feature for our most dedicated of players: the Premium Shoppe! This shop is available to players once they have received duplicate trap cards after reaching Tier 7. When this occurs, these duplicates will be converted to Gibs. Gibs can be spent in the Premium Shoppe on chests that have better odds for rare cards, exclusive vanity items, and more!
  • NEW FEATURE: Account Vanity:
  • Players can now customize their in-game avatar and new background art to personalize the dashboard appearance. This can be done by clicking the account background in the top right corner of the dashboard and selecting from the available options. Additional avatars and backgrounds are available in the Premium Shoppe.
  • NEW MERCENARY: Gnoll Breeder:
  • This mercenary breeds teacup gnolls and trains them to attack heroes. Kill him quickly or he will keep releasing his teacup gnolls!
  • NEW SABOTAGE MAP: Falling Folly:
  • Falling Folly is now available in Sabotage.
  • NEW: Sabotage Consumables:
  • Ability Disable Spell: disables a random enemy hero's abilities.
  • Drain Unchained Spell: drain the enemy teams' Unchained meters over time.
  • Crogon Hatchlings: summons a large army of small crogon hatchlings that spit health-draining and slowing poison at heroes that can stack up to 8x.
  • NEW: Additional Base Consumables:
  • Players can now expand the base deck of consumables by completing achievements or purchasing them in the store. Additional base deck consumables are not stronger than other consumables, but they do have unlimited charges like other base deck consumables. They have updated card art, and minions and bosses also have updated in-game skins. We've made a special effort to make both the cards and skins look as cool as possible.

  • GENERAL:
  • In solo games, players have twice as much time during go-breaks.
  • Minions now have 10% less health in solo play and 5% less health in duo play.
  • Restricted Section (war mage), Crogon Keep (war mage), Stables of
  • Eventide (war mage and master), and Falling Folly (master) have been made easier.
  • Throne Room (apprentice and war mage) has been made slightly more challenging.
  • Par times have been made significantly easier in apprentice and war mage difficulties.
  • Most apprentice maps have been made more challenging for 3 players.
  • Cliffside Clash (master) has been made easier for solo and duo players.
  • Some Weavers have been streamlined to be shorter and easier to read. No balance changes have been made.
  • Mercenaries' difficulty now scales with map level.
  • Mercenary health and damage lowered by 30%.
  • Players can now cancel their daily Sabotage quest for a quest that requires Survival games instead. This alternative quest will reward 75 experience.
  • ART AND SOUND:
  • Heroes will now play defeat animations upon losing in Sabotage.
  • When heroes use their dance animation, they will now dance until stopped, rather than only playing their animation once.
  • The orcs have learned many new vocal reactions.
  • SABOTAGE:
  • Sabotage game rewards have been increased. Players will receive more XP and skulls per match.
  • Sabotage will no longer re-balance when players leave. Unfortunately, this is a better alternative than having players intentionally leave matches to gain a competitive advantage.
  • "Summon Kobolds" now summons 12 kobolds (down from 16).
  • Early waves have been made easier on Restricted Section and Banquet Hall in Sabotage.
  • Later waves have been made more difficult on Throne Room, Orcri-La, and Baths in Sabotage.
  • Sabotage matchmaking will now pick easier maps than before.
  • The ranking system has been updated for Sabotage. Players will need to replay their placement matches. However, their previous progress will not be lost. In general, this will result in a higher rank than before.
  • ENDLESS MODE:
  • Difficulty now scales with player count.
  • Now spawns Mercs in the repeating waves.
  • Developer Comment: Previously, we intentionally encouraged group play by making Endless not scale with player count. However, the majority of players play Endless solo anyway, so we have decided to re-evaluate this decision. Sabotage has opened up additional avenues for group play making non-scaling not as important.
  • USER INTERFACE:
  • Video playback now loads much more quickly in the launcher.
  • Unit keywords have been added to the card backs of all Sabotage minion consumables.
  • The leaderboard score calculation is now broken down on the post-game screen.
  • Some Weavers have been streamlined to be shorter and easier to read. No balance changes have been made.
  • The tactical map in Sabotage now shows the area of staves your team has placed.
  • HERO DESIGN:
  • Bionka:
  • Damage reduced significantly.
  • Make Dem Stop weaver upgrade now slows by 40%, rather than stunning.
  • Bloodspike:
  • Increased Brutal Axe's damage by 16%.
  • Increased Maiming Blow's damage by 10%.
  • Increased Health by 8%.
  • Developer Comment: We are considering larger-scale changes for the future, but in the meantime, we want to make sure that Bloodspike is dealing enough damage and is hardly enough in battle.
  • Dobbin:
  • Rich Vein Weaver upgrade to coin bags lowered to 1.5x coin (from 2x).
  • Developer Comment: This weaver upgrade is mandatory and by far the best option as it stands.
  • Cygnus:
  • Damage increased by 12%.
  • Rift Shard cooldown decreased to 30 seconds (from 35).
  • Developer Comment: Cygnus has fallen behind in damage, win rate, and play numbers. We think a buff is warranted here.
  • Hogarth:
  • Reduced the mana cost of all of his abilities by 15%.
  • Midnight:
  • Prowl now costs 15 mana to activate.
  • Prowl mana cost per second reduced to 10 (from 13).
  • Prolonged Prowl Weaver upgrade now removes the activation cost, rather than reducing the sustained mana cost.
  • Developer Comment: We didn't wish to change how powerful Midnight is, but we did want playing Midnight to require a little more thought as far as when to use Prowl.
  • Oziel:
  • Damage increased by 10%.
  • Ivy:
  • Modified "Natural Knack" weaver to provide 25% cooldown reduction, rather than 4 seconds of cooldown reduction. This results in a small nerf to up-time during normal play and a large nerf to up-time when stacking cooldown reduction.
  • Tundra:
  • Modified "Freezer Burn" weaver to provide 3% cooldown reduction per projectile hit, rather than 2 seconds.
  • MINIONS:
  • Dynamite Archers:
  • Increased the collision area of the dynamite, making them easier to detonate by shooting them. This does not affect their radius for hitting heroes.
  • TRAPS:
  • Boulder Chute and Icicle Impaler:
  • Damage no longer scales with distance.
  • Now deals significantly more base damage.
  • Developer Comment: The requirement to manually fire the trap is what makes this trap unique. However, this trap also needs to be placed on high ceilings to be effective. This makes them too conditional to use. We are okay if these traps remain fairly niche for those that enjoy a power boost from manually firing the traps, but we felt there should be more incentive to use them.
  • Ice Vent:
  • Number of charges increased by 25%.
  • Developer Comment: This trap should be a core part of ice killboxes, but its performance is currently underwhelming, hence the change.
  • Cursed Ground:
  • Now ticks 12% faster
  • Developer Comment: Ever since we increased minion speed, this trap has fallen behind in usage. This should help this trap gain an extra hit on enemies.
  • GUARDIANS & BIG GAME HUNTING TRAPS:
  • Now have a damage cap for rare, high-damage situations.
  • ADDITIONAL BUG FIXES:
  • Fixed a bug where Hunters could attack players from further away than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where minions could be knocked through the wall using triggered maces on Throne Room.
  • Kinetic Reclaimer and Heat Activated Trigger's internal cooldowns behave properly.

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 2.0 (Apr 20, 2017)

  • New Game Mode: Sabotage:
  • With OMD!U 2.0, we are proud to debut a new mode: Sabotage! This mode introduces a new, head-to-head way to play OMD!U. In Sabotage, two teams battle on separate versions of the same map, competing to see who can finish their waves with the most rift points still intact. However, both teams can meddle in the other's ability to defend their rift by selecting potions, scrolls, and spells that can interrupt, distract, and disrupt the other team's strategy. Whoever has the most rift points left when all waves are completed wins!
  • Also, beginning with this mode is an exciting new ranking system. Players can compete to become silver, gold, platinum, and finally diamond ranked. Win Sabotage games to become one of the honored few to reach diamond rank! Players can also work together to be one of the few guilds at the top of the ranked guild ladder.
  • Have fun, war mages!
  • Redesigned: Score System:
  • All leaderboards have been reset to accommodate new score changes.
  • The base score for leaderboards is now entirely dependent on minion kills and combos.
  • Players receive an 8x bonus score multiplier for zero deaths. Each death will reduce this multiplier by 10%, to a minimum of 1x.
  • In Sabotage and Survival, players receive a 4x multiplier for zero rift points lost. Each point lost will reduce this multiplier by 5%, to a minimum of 1x.
  • In Endless, each wave completed after wave 5 now provides a 15% bonus to players' scores.
  • The time-score bonus has been reworked and is more significant. If a player hits par time, he or she will receive a 2x multiplier. If a player completes a battleground under the par time, they will receive a >2x multiplier. If a player exceeds par time, he or she will receive a multiplier between 1x and 2x.
  • The combo point timer on minions now pauses while the minion is in the air.
  • Coin is no longer a factor in score.
  • Developer Comment: We were uncomfortable with score being independent from star performance. With these changes, we hope to align perceptions of performing well with higher scores. In addition, these changes should result in combos still being necessary, but not the only consideration in maximizing scores.
  • Redesigned: Chest Opening Sequence:
  • Players no longer need to click through each card one-by-one. Instead, with a single click, all cards are revealed.
  • If players have multiple chests, they can now quickly proceed to other chests to open them.
  • Developer Comment: Back when players were not getting multiple chests as rewards, the slow presentation of cards for chest-opening worked well. However, now that players collect many chests and many cards for upgrades, the chest-opening sequence needed to be streamlined. These changes dramatically increase the pace of opening chests.
  • Updated: Enemy Heroes Replaced with Mercenaries:
  • We heard your feedback: enemy heroes are not fun to fight. We have created four new mercenaries to replace them that have intelligent AI and will mix up gameplay in different ways.
  • Pride Assassin: An enemy stealth mercenary that will attempt to gank players and run away to heal.
  • Bouncer Bear: An enemy mercenary that escorts minions and tries to forcefully push heroes away. Be careful; he will damage barricades if he steps on them.
  • Dwarf High Shaman: This dwarf mercenary occasionally shields the minions around him, making them invulnerable unless heroes cross through his shield.
  • Chaotic Kobold Wizard: A chaotic kobold mercenary that roams the map, placing crystals that slow players and disable traps.
  • Achievements/Quests:
  • Quests related to killing enemies now include assists as well as direct kills
  • Previously, players received 3 quests: one that granted a chest, one that granted XP, and one that granted skulls. In 2.0, the XP quest has been replaced by another chest quest. This quest always requires you to win two sabotage games.
  • The 1 billion coin achievement has been lowered to 200 million coin.
  • Many quests' completion requirements have been lowered.
  • New Loading Screens:
  • Each map now has its own dedicated loading screen!
  • General Balance:
  • Stables of Eventide (war mage), Restricted Section (war mage), Falling Foley (master), Crogon Keep (war mage and master), Training Grounds (master), Cliffside Clash (master) and Maximum Security (rift lord) have been made slightly less challenging.
  • Cliffside Clash (apprentice), Highlands (war mage), Shark Island (war mage), Orcatraz (master), Avalanche (master), and Docks at Eventide (master) have been made more challenging.
  • Additional floor grating has been added to Throne Room.
  • Many par times have been loosened slightly.
  • Guardians:
  • Deckhand Guardian - Bonus combo points lowered to +1 (from +4).
  • Endless Mode:
  • Minions now gain slightly more health and slightly less damage each wave.
  • Minions:
  • Elementals:
  • All medium elementals have had their health reduced by 20%.
  • Fixed an issue where elementals had incorrect health in solo games and incorrect damage in multiplayer games.
  • Fixed an issue where elementals were not scaling in Endless.
  • Pride Hunters:
  • Health reduced by 12%.
  • Attack range reduced by 8%.
  • Traps:
  • Combo Generator:
  • Now only applies to minions that are stunned, frozen, mesmerized, or midair.
  • Trap part type changed to “trigger.”
  • Developer Comment: In order to encourage interesting physics builds and prevent the combo generator from becoming mandatory for a high score, we have decided to redesign it. Players that previously had this part slotted will have it returned to their inventory. These players are welcome to re-slot the part in a trigger slot.
  • Hero Design:
  • Bloodspike:
  • Drop rate of delicious meals has been doubled.
  • Bionka:
  • Now aggros twice as many ranged minions.
  • Back-pedal speed lowered by 20%.
  • Developer Comment: This is a double-edged sword. It increases her ability to hold minions near her, but also reduces her survivability. We believe this will make her more powerful in solo play, while making her need to manage health more carefully in group play.
  • Dobbin:
  • Coin bags now provide 200 coin (from 220).
  • Coin bags now de-spawn after 12 seconds (from 15).
  • There is now a max of 4 coin bags that can spawn from a single dynamite.
  • Armor reduction from Dust Devil reduced to -15 (from -30).
  • Developer Comment: When testing Sabotage, it became very apparent that Dobbin was far too powerful. These changes are designed to make him a competitive choice rather than a mandatory one.
  • Hogarth:
  • Health increased by 10%.
  • Aggro increased by 20%.
  • ANGRY! stack duration lowered to 5 seconds (from 8).
  • Additional axes from MORE AXE! weaver will now deal half damage.
  • FEEL GOOD! weaver now provides 4% max health per second out of combat (from 5 flat).
  • Developer Comment: The recent changes gave Hogarth too much area damage, diluting his role as a tank. We have decided to make him even better at holding minions while lowering some of his high-damage capabilities.
  • Consumables:
  • Health Potion secondary effect increased +1% of max health per second (from flat 1).
  • Mana Potion secondary effect increased to 2.5 mana per second (from 1).
  • Potion of Rage secondary effect increased to +15% primary damage (from 10%).
  • Potion of Speed secondary effect increased to +20% movement speed (from 10%).
  • Potion of the Guardian secondary effect increased to +0.6% max health per second (from 1 flat) and +1.5 mana per second (from 1).
  • Developer Comment: These potions are unutilized compared to the other potions. With the addition of Sabotage, we have taken the time to smooth out the balance between consumable options.
  • Additional Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed several bugs where trait icons were not showing in-game.
  • Fixed an issue where minions could path underneath the map on The Wall.
  • Fixed rollover text on several cards.
  • Fixed issues with ceiling trap grid on The Baths.
  • Fixed an issue where loadout popups would show behind other items.
  • Fixed an issue where players would be unable to open chests after leaving a lobby.
  • Fixed an issue where players would receive a message that they would be penalized for leaving a non-matchmade lobby.
  • Fixed an issue where players could send a party invite while matchmaking.
  • Fixed an issue where the Blacksmith guardian would say incorrect lines when placed away from home.
  • Fixed an issue where consumables would not be consumed in abandoned games.
  • Fixed an issue where Temper would not show how much rage he needed when trying to use an ability that required more rage than was available.
  • Fixed an issue where barricades were preventing boom barrel placement.
  • Fixed a situation where heroes could get stuck on Mausoleum.
  • Fixed an issue where Temper played hit effects when hitting non-enemies.
  • Fixed an issue where the grinder reverts to the spit-up animation during go breaks.
  • Fixed an issue where Dobbin was not getting his passive bonus with the coin forge.
  • Fixed an issue where minions could spawn during go breaks.
  • Fixed an issue where Temper’s skills did not turn grey when he had insufficient rage.
  • Fixed minion pathing issues on the Academy Sewers.
  • Fixed an issue where players could not start waves or activate Unchained when using a controller.
  • Fixed an issue with missing sounds on Dobbin.
  • Fixed an issue where some destructible props do not play sounds when destroyed.
  • Fixed an issue where minions do not always disappear on death.
  • Fixed an issue where players’ Steam accounts could become bound to an invalid OMD!U account.
  • Fixed an issue where error messages related to Steam would not provide text.
  • Fixed issues where information on bosses was inaccurate in the battleground select screen.

  • Fixed an issue where trip wire traps could be placed on top of each other.

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 1.8 (Feb 22, 2017)

  • New Hero: Temper:
  • Often surprised by his own anger, this usually mild-mannered minotaur blacksmith now focuses his fiery anger towards defeating the Unchained. One day,he hopes to return to his dwarven family and his home.
  • Generating rage instead of mana, Temper charges into battle dealing explosive fire damage. He also aggroes enemies, hammering them into submission.
  • Skills:
  • Swing! Punch! Smash! (LMB): If used in quick succession, Temper anvil punches, swings his hammer, and delivers anuppercut, building his rage.
  • Exploding Hammer (RMB): Temper throws his hammer. On impact, it knocks back and damages enemies over time in its radius.
  • Happy Place (Q): Temper soothes himself, converting rage into health and a movement speed boost. Attacking cancels ability.
  • Hammer Slam (E): Temper brings both weapons down in front of him, setting the surrounding area on fire.
  • Bull Rush (Shift): Temper charges forward, knocking back enemies in his path.
  • Rage of the Forge (Passive): Temper gains strength as he builds rage, exploding at max rage and damaging and knocking back enemies.
  • New Battleground: Orcatraz:
  • Orcatraz is an infamous Unchained prison filled with vile Order miscreants that can barely be contained. Help the Unchained quell the riots there and stop them from escaping.
  • New Battleground: Orcri-La:
  • The orcs worshipping at Orcri-La have an odd tradition: they use boulder chutes to sacrifice unbelievers. Use the boulders to keep Order interlopers out and bring your own priest to guard the temple's rift!
  • New Endless Maps:
  • Baths (1-10)
  • Throne Room (11-25)
  • Crogon Keep (46-75)
  • The Wall (76-100)
  • New Features: OMD!U and Steam Achievements:
  • We have implemented a new achievement system that allows players to accomplish set goals in OMD!U. Some of these achievements are easy to accomplish, but some will take some time. We've made them as fun and easy to track as possible--they also count as Steam achievements! Find them on the profile page and see if you can complete them all!
  • Hero Rework: Stinkeye:
  • We’ve received lots of feedback on Stinkeye’s new design and we decided to make some sweeping changes. The new design is more active than before patch 1.6, but less complicated and overwhelming than he is currently. We believe we have found a happy medium. Below are the skills that have changed or have returned to their prior functionality.
  • Arcane Anomaly (RMB): Conjures an orb of arcane energy that charges and then detonates, dealing arcane damage in a radius.
  • Zephyr of Oasis (E): Summons a totem that increases the movement speed of allies and slows the movement speed of enemies. May be attacked to destroy the totem and stun nearby enemies for 3 seconds. Note: The size of the totem has been increased significantly.
  • Wrath of Oasis (Q): Summons a totem that shoots nearby enemies. When shot with Prestidigitized Projectile, the totem shoots 3 projectiles at nearby enemies. Lasts 20 seconds. Note: The size of the totem has been increased significantly.
  • Shaman’s Blessing (Passive): After a totem expires, a mana orb appears at the totem’s previous location.
  • Stinkeye Weaver changes:
  • Reduced Totem Testament's additional projectiles to +1 (from +2).
  • Reworked Booming Benediction. It now replaces mana orbs that drop from totems with Tears of Oasis, which provide the benefit of three drops(Unchained, mana, and health) combined.

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 1.2 (Jun 1, 2016)

  • Survival of the Fittest:
  • With every new update, Survival mode feels more and more like the classic Orcs Must Die! gameplay you fell in love with. Now, minions move faster and take more damage from your assaults. Hero damage bonuses make your weapons hit harder and your magic pack more punch. Minion waves on all Survival battlegrounds are rebalanced to be more exciting for new players and to give high-level players greater challenges to overcome. To top it all off, the new Banquet Hall Survival battleground is the most compact OMD2-like map we’ve ever released. We’re keeping PvP Siege mode on an even playing field, but planning even more adjustments and updates to PvE Survival to give you that classic OMD feeling.
  • Craft What You Want:
  • Crafting has been beaten into submission. The number of materials is sliced in half and recipes were thrown into the blade walls to make the entire crafting system bow to your every whim. No more hoping for the best from random drops. Choose the materials you want to pursue for the cards you want to craft, then go earn them on the battlefield! Target the rewards you actually need and craft new traps, traits, heroes, and minions with reckless abandon.
  • Become a Trap God:
  • Every trap in the game now has seven upgrade tiers instead of four, so you can upgrade your traps more frequently. Build your highly-customized Survival mode deck of dastardly murder contraptions to inflict pain on unsuspecting enemy minions just the way you like. You’ll also start upgrading your traps even sooner than before, with upgrades unlocking now at level 10 instead of 25. When you put it all together, that means that there are no safe words allowed in your killbox – only pain.
  • Bloodspike Returns:
  • One of our most powerful heroes in the game arrives in Release 1.2. With a murderous new set of abilities, Bloodspike the Brutal joins the thirteen heroes already warring for the rifts in Orcs Must Die! Unchained. With so many heroes to choose from, and many more on the way, there’s a powerful option for every attacker, pillager, and defender on your team.

New in Orcs Must Die! Unchained 04.01.2016 Open Beta (Apr 12, 2016)

  • Matchmaking has generally improved with the last few rounds of changes, but there are some new wrinkles.
  • In Survival Mode (PvE), we are seeing fast games with players of similar level ranged but also smaller team sizes. This is because we had some aggressive settings there. We’re going to loosen these a bit, allowing the matcher to search for a slightly longer time – this should produce games with full teams more often. (Note that, for survival, we adjust content to suit the number of players, so if you get in game with less than five players, the game will tweak things to suit your party.)
  • In Siege Mode (PvP), we are seeing far more drops at the hero selection and far more games canceled by a player who does not ready up when a match is found. There’s a problem with removal of players who do not accept matches, meaning that one absentee player cycles through multiple times ruining multiple games – this is getting fixed now and will be live soon.
