New in MewnBase 0.38.2 (Sep 13, 2017)

  • Another quick update that re-adds the faster walk speed when walking on Pavement tiles. If a Pavement tile is under a Habitat Module, it still applies a walk-speed bonus.
  • Also fixed a few inventory bugs where the game would crash if you had a single item in your inventory, placed it into a Generator (or Water Supply), then clicked on the Generator again with nothing equipped.

  • Multiple save slots and a bit of cat customization! NOTE: 0.38 should migrate and work with existing saved games. But if you're super attached to your current saved game, you might want to make a backup of your existing 0.37 game+world somewhere before updating into 0.38

  • New:
  • Weather. World now has "clear", "rain", and "sandstorm" weather effects. Sandstorms add dust to your solar panels, eventually making them dirty. Rain can clean dirty solar panels. Solar panels are less efficient during weather events. (may be some lingering bugs with their particle fx)
  • Your starting base and inventory items are now provided to you via 2 supply crates that you need to find near your landing site.
  • Added "Engine" craftable component that is used for making vehicles, will be used in other modules later.
  • New pavement base tile that can be created by smelting rock.
  • Added player status effects and UI for things like: Starving, suffocating, healing etc.
  • Medbay module added to game.
  • Added major translation contributors to the More / credits page.
  • Changes / fixes:
  • "Center posts" in configurations of 4 habitat modules are removed, creating more open floor plans.
  • Jackhammer animation and sound effect are no longer used when you interact with a base module with the jackhammer equipped.
  • Removed screen-resolution options for now since they were crashing the game for several users.
  • Fixed an issue where walking between chunks would make base power flicker.
  • Air Cleaner makes oxygen at a slightly faster rate.
  • Removed the ability for certain base modules to transfer power, water, oxygen etc.
  • "Normal" missions are now 10-15 days instead of 6-8.
  • Performance tweaks.

New in MewnBase 0.31 (Jan 30, 2017)

  • Thanks to the help of the MewnBase community, the game now more languages. In addition to English, in this first batch the game now supports: German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Russian. Polish and Turkish coming soon!
  • New Options menu (accessible from both the More menu as well as in-game) to let you change your keyboard mapping, resolution settings, and language preferences.
  • Misc updates and bug fixes:â—¦Fixed some issues where the player could get stuck in the tutorial.
  • Right clicking on an unselected inventory item now automatically selects and uses it.

New in MewnBase 0.30 (Jan 6, 2017)

  • Gameplay changes:
  • You can pickup crafting tables, smelters, and greenhouses while they're in the middle of crafting or when they have items ready to pickup (without loosing any items / resources).
  • Air Cleaner produces more oxygen per second (1.5 instead of 1.25).
  • Placeholder: health status text now shows a "-" or "+" next to it to indicate if your health is improving or declining.
  • Fixed a habitat oxygen consumption / player suit refill inconsistency.
  • You now don't die by running out of oxygen, you start loosing health quickly. Having suit oxygen and having a hunger of "normal" or "full" will slowly replenish your health.
  • Added the red glow to the hud when you're not at 100% health.
  • Added a no-oxygen warning icon to the hud.
  • Misc updates:
  • Updated app icon.
  • Main menu now checks to see if there's a newer version of the game available for download from itch.io. Useful when you're just playing builds manually downloaded from the store page.
  • New "More" menu with links to stuff, credits.
  • Setup initial support for weather visual fx, you can test via debug console ("setweather rain", clear, and sandstorm).

New in MewnBase 12.18.2016 Update (Dec 22, 2016)

  • Added some support for updating saved games from previous versions of the game. Since base resource information gets saved in a slightly different way now (oxygen, water, power).
  • Water Supply module now has a level meter on it, along with a status light that turns red when empty.
  • You can now manually water greenhouses with bottled water.
  • Habitat modules now suffer from occasional airleaks that need to be fixed.
  • Map now works while inside of the buggie.
  • Different ambient wind sound effects while inside vs outside.
  • Tweaked some base module crafting recipes.
  • Made solar panels now have a 50/50 chance of becoming dirty every 3-6 minutes. (was previously guaranteed to happen every 100-300 seconds).
  • A fix for new games to prevent tiles from being spawned in front of the starting airlock.
  • UI glitch in base power popup while building new power generators.
  • Fixed a crash bug if you loaded a game where you had quit while a base module was in the middle of building

  • Fixed a crash bug where building a greenhouse attached to a base with a water supply would result in a "empty" looking greenhouse module, and then a crash / hang if you tried picking the broken greenhouse up.
  • Fixed a UI issue where if you hovered the mouse over one of your inventory items, and then dropped that item (or consumed it) - that the tool-tip would remain stuck to the cursor.
  • Add some button menu sound effects to the front-end menus

New in MewnBase 10.03.2016 Update (Oct 5, 2016)

  • Updated lighting system to use Box2D-Lights. Some lights now cast shadows. Hopefully better performance. Might be some odds-and-ends parts of the game that still need the lighting updated.
  • Oxygen supply: You now need to be inside a habitat module in order for your air supply to replenish. If you're in an airlock, the outer door needs to be closed.
  • Player now appears to hold a shovel when that item is equipped.
  • Fixed issues with the player eat animation.
  • Fixed bug where holding down RMB and moving would result in the player "sliding around".
  • Game window should now resize better (properly letterboxed instead of stretched).
  • Fixed issues with scrollable windows (crafting UI, etc) that would appear cut off when resizing the window

  • New item: Conduit (wires) let you cheaply share power and air supplies between base modules that aren't adjacent to each other.
  • New item: Flood Light - they light up a large area, can toggle them on and off.
  • Tiles do a better job at saving and loading their current state.
  • Airlock remembers if it should be open or closed.
  • Workbench and Greenhouses remember how far along they were in crafting something.
  • Solar Panels remember if they are dirty.

  • Updated crafting menu that it now has the ability to queue up multiple items.
  • Workbenches and Greenhouses now have a "!" blip that appears over them when they have finished an item and it's ready to collect.
  • Game now auto-saves your progress at the beginning of each day.

  • Made item crafting times a bit more consistent.
  • Fixed an issue where holding down a move key while exiting the lander would make you just slide around instead of walk.
  • Item builders will now prevent you pick them up while they're actively building something or have items waiting to be collected.
  • Fixed a bug when picking up the Workbench.
  • Setup future support for a scrollable crafting menu once more items are added.
  • Buggie's headlight is quite a bit brighter.

  • Added a "Garage" base module.
  • Added Buggie vehicle that you can drive around. In the future, it will have limited power and will need to be recharged periodically.
  • HUD oxygen and power indicators now turn red when they're running low.
  • Bug fixes:
  • Item pickups are now saved and loaded.
  • Fixed an issue where placing a base module next to the lander would cause it to disappear on save and reload.
  • Fixed issue where keymap settings file would get re-written on every launch.
  • Fixed typo in the tutorial.

  • Added a "New Game" menu.
  • New "Tutorial" game mode. Teaches you the very basics of how to play. Will probably be expanded later.
  • New "Endless Mode" - has no mission day limit.
  • New visual indicator when placing buildings.
  • You can rotate Airlock modules while placing by pressing "R".
  • Minor Update and Fixes:
  • HUD now always shows what day you're on.
  • Added sound fx when cycling through inventory items.
  • Added animation and sound fx for eating food.

  • Plants now are guaranteed to drop at least 1 plant item (plus possibility of extra plants or seeds).

  • Itch App Sandboxing: Game will crash at first launch and when you select "Save and Quit" if the Itch desktop app sandboxing setting is enabled.
  • Crafting progress at the Workbench and Greenhouse isn't saved properly.

  • New base module: Greenhouse - grows a plant after 40 seconds.
  • New items: Seeds - dropped by plants, usable in the greenhouse.
  • Added inventory keyboard shortcuts (keys 1 through 0).
  • Added player death animation.
  • Added HUD text for indicating when suit looses power.
  • World generates a bit more ice than before.
  • Health now recovers slowly as long as your hunger is "normal" or "full".
  • Fixed inventory max-items issues. Once you have 12 different items in your inventory, you won't be able to pick up anything else.
  • Known issue: Greenhouse uses same UI as crafting table, says "Building" when it should say "Growing" etc. This will be improved later.
  • Probably added some new bugs along the way.

New in MewnBase 06.10.2016 Update (Jun 14, 2016)

  • New Items: Cargo Containers and Portable Oxygen tanks.
  • Added button for cancelling crafting.
  • Fixed wall issue on habitat modules that were north and south of an airlock.
  • Player walks slightly faster, carries a bit more oxygen than before.
  • New mouse cursor to better indicate when you're close enough to an object to interact with it.
  • Starting to implement audio system, copied over from my previous games. Will hopefully be adding in more music and sound fx over the next month

  • Replaced old collision system with Box2D. No more getting stuck on corners!
  • Pick up base modules by holding the right mouse button.
  • Testing support for full-screen mode (via cheat console).
  • Fixed up the build process to play nicer with the Itch desktop app. OSX version should no longer ask you to install X11. Fixed some crash issues with Windows version.

  • Experimenting with a more "traditional" inventory HUD (like Minecraft, Don't Starve etc) for making it easier to see what you have while crafting, faster item switching etc.
  • New splash screen, added exit button to the main menu.
  • Dropped items now are smaller, and angled to make them appear different from actual resources and base modules.
