What's new in Hearthstone 15.0 - Saviors of Uldum

Aug 2, 2019
  • Arch-Villain Rafaam and his band of misguided miscreants have navigated the capital city of Dalaran across the world and have arrived in the land of magical mummies, treacherous tombs, and sand-swept horizons – Uldum! While their ultimate goals are still shrouded in mystery, their disastrous doings in the dunes have unleashed devastating plagues on the land. Now it’s up to the League of Explorers (and you!) to stop the League of E.V.I.L. from reaching their nefarious goals.
  • Read on for details on everything that’s new in the tavern, and what’s included in the Saviors of Uldum expansion!
  • Saviors of Uldum – Launching August 6
  • The League of Explorers Has Arrived
  • Reno!Brann!Sir Finley?Elise!
  • Have no fear - Reno the Relicologist, Dinotamer Brann, Sir Finley of the Sands, and Elise the Enlightened are here! If your deck has no duplicate cards you’ll be rewarded with incredible effects when you play these new League of Explorers cards!
  • New Keyword: Reborn:
  • Just when you think you’ve got one of the mummies of Uldum under wraps, they’re back in action and ready to fight! Minions with the Reborn Keyword will return to life the first time they’re destroyed, but with 1 remaining Health.
  • Plagues:
  • Plagues are spells of ancient power wielded by the 5 League of E.V.I.L. classes (Priest, Shaman, Warrior, Warlock, and Rogue.) Affecting both friend and foe alike, plagues have a devastating impact when played, so time them wisely!
  • Quests:
  • Every adventurer worth their sand needs a Quest! In Saviors of Uldum, all 9 classes will have new Legendary Quests that grant game-changing Hero Powers once completed. As with existing Quest cards, these Legendary 1-Mana cards start in your hand and, once played, their progress will track above your Hero portrait.

  • Card Changes
  • New Crystal Core Implementation
  • We have updated the functionality of the Rogue quest reward Crystal Core in order to address some inconsistencies. This new functionality also applies to Dark Pharaoh Tekahn’s Battlecry effect.
  • After Crystal Core is played, the base copies of your minions will now have 4/4 stats. The stat numbers will appear as white, instead of the green text indicating a buff. This means that if your opponent steals or silences your minion, it will remain as a 4/4.
  • Additionally, minions currently in play will receive a onetime effect that sets their stats to 4/4, overriding current enchantments and clearing damage.
  • Some interactions will change under this new functionality. Cards that create a copy of a minion with specifically stated stats (Sonya Shadowdancer, Prince Taldaram, Barnes, etc) will now work as written on the card text. For example, the minion summoned by Barnes will be a 1/1, instead of a 4/4.

  • Missed the event? Normal SN1P-SN4P can still be crafted for the usual cost of 1600 Arcane Dust.
  • Important Note: SN1P-SN4P will be considered part of the The Boomsday Project and will rotate with that set, however SN1P-SN4P will NOT drop from The Boomsday Project card packs. Golden SN1P-SN4P will only be obtainable as part of the Rise of the Mech event, and the normal SN1P-SN4P can only be crafted with Arcane Dust.

  • Reckless Experimenter:
  • We’ve decided to make a change to how Reckless Experimenter functions due to an unwanted interaction with SN1P-SN4P that allows for an early-game infinite damage combo in Priest decks. We’re also aware of some interactions that SN1P-SN4P creates in Wild when played alongside multiple Mechwarpers, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how that plays out over the next few weeks.
  • Players will be able to disenchant Reckless Experimenter for its full Arcane Dust value for two weeks.
  • Quality of Life Changes:

  • Reconnect Improvements:
  • Players who are disconnected from Hearthstone due to an unstable connection, switching applications, or by locking their mobile devices will no longer be directed back to the login/launch screen when attempting to reconnect.

  • Note: We are still improving this feature, and you may encounter some issues with the current version.
  • A new popup has been added to alert players of their offline/reconnect status.
  • Accessing Hearthstone Offline:
  • Players can now access their collection even when their device has lost connection to the Internet.
  • The following features of the Collection Manager can now be accessed while offline:
  • View owned and unowned cards in the collection
  • Create Decks
  • Edit Decks
  • Delete Decks
  • Rename Decks
  • Set Favorite Heroes
  • Set Favorite Cardbacks
  • Opening a pack that was in the process of being opened
  • Any changes made in the collection manager while offline will be saved on the player's device until the next time they regain network access. Note that some changes may be lost if a player creates multiple decks or edits the same deck simultaneously on multiple devices.
  • Matchmaking Improvements:
  • We've implemented a new feature to reduce chances of matching against the same player multiple times in a row. Some exceptions may occur when players have few matchmaking options near their rank.
  • Match quality has been improved for players in ranks 25 – 21, and they should now face more opponents of similar skill.
  • Arena Set Rotation:

  • The Grand Tournament

  • Fixed an issue causing the game to freeze if Voidcaller is drawn at the start of your turn while Fel Lord Betrug and Spiritsinger Umbra are on your side of the board.

New in Hearthstone 14.2 - The Dalaran Heist (May 16, 2019)

  • Today’s Hearthstone update adds a whole new single-player adventure alongside game improvements and bug fixes. Read on for details!
  • New Single-player Adventure – The Dalaran Heist – Live on May 16!
  • A Dastardly Deed, Indeed:
  • Arch-Villain Rafaam has meticulously assembled a league of menacing and megalomaniacal supervillains to undertake his most audacious caper yet – stealing the magical city of Dalaran! As a low-level operative in Rafaam's League of E.V.I.L., you'll rampage through the streets and sewers of Dalaran ensuring that every part of the plan succeeds. Or, at the very least, you'll provide the distraction they need to accomplish their devious goals.
  • Here’s the Plan:
  • As with previous deckbuilding Solo Adventures, you'll choose a Hero and work your way through a gauntlet of increasingly difficult encounters, adding cards and powerful treasures to your deck with each win. If your Hero is defeated, you’ll lose the deck you've built and start over.
  • Onward to Dalaran!:
  • The Dalaran Heist allows players to unlock more ways to play than ever before. You’ll find more customization, more bosses to fight, and more ways to experience hijinks in the magical city!
  • Hero Loadouts: In addition to 9 playable Heroes, you can unlock new Hero Powers and Decks to be used in your quest to defeat the defenders of Dalaran.
  • Multiple Chapters: Starting this week with ‘Dalaran Bank’ and ‘The Violet Hold,’ the Solo Adventure will unfold in 5 chapters, each with its own rules, events, and unique encounters.
  • Friendly Encounters: Make changes to your Solo Adventure Deck with the help of a friendly tavernkeeper.
  • Anomaly Mode: Throw Dalaran into chaos by playing through a chapter with randomized special rules. Will it make it easier? Harder? The only guarantee is it'll be CRAZIER.
  • Heroic Mode: For card-core players only: Can you beat the ultimate versions of all the boss encounters?
  • Prize of Shadows – Acquired from completing The Dalaran Heist in Normal mode.
  • Prize of Shadows
  • Got Away with it! – Acquired from completing The Dalaran Heist in Heroic mode.
  • Got Away with it!
  • Pricing and Rewards
  • Get Started for Free!
  • Crack open the vault and make a mad grab for loot! The first Hero and first chapter of The Dalaran Heist will be available to everyone – for free!
  • Unlocking Additional Chapters:
  • Launching consecutively over the next 3 weeks, future chapters will be available for purchase as a bundle containing all chapters for $19.99 USD, and individually for 700 Gold or $6.99 USD. Both The Dalaran Bank and the Violet Hold will be available on launch day!
  • Unlocking each chapter after The Bank will also unlock two additional Heroes to use in The Dalaran Heist!
  • Earn Up To 16 Packs:
  • Earn 3 Rise of Shadows Packs by playing through each chapter, and a Golden Classic Pack when you conquer them all. Plus, earn two unique card backs for completing all chapters on Normal or Heroic Mode.
  • Get Your Golden Legendary:
  • Add a Golden Zayle, Shadow Cloak collectible card to your collection when you own all five chapters. Add this card to an empty deck, queue up for a match, and receive one of five pre-made E.V.I.L. decks!
  • Golden Zayle, Shadow Cloak:
  • Game Improvements and Bug Fixes:
  • Single-player Reconnect – Players can now resume in-progress single-player content after game disconnects, closures, and crashes.
  • Please note that this is the first version of this feature and we plan to keep improving it over time.
  • Kalecgos no longer grants a discount to another spell if the first spell is countered. This is now consistent with other one-time cost reduction effects, such as Inkmaster Solia or Kirin Tor Mage.
  • Explosive Runes now deals correct damage to minions that transform after they come into play.
  • Fixed an issue causing Nat, the Darkfisher to trigger more often than 50% of the time.
  • Changed the condition on Prismatic Lens to swap costs if both a minion and spell are drawn, instead of requiring both cards to also end in the player's hand. This means if Prismatic Lens now draws a minion and a “Casts When Drawn” spell, it will still swap their costs.
  • Fixed an issue where Da Undatakah would not return spells cast on it after copying Test Subject's Deathrattle.
  • Fixed an issue where Twilight's Call would not resurrect Deathrattle minions that were silenced before dying.
  • Fixed an issue where Twilight’s Call would resurrect cards that were granted a Deathrattle by cards like Soul of the Murloc but did not have an inherent Deathrattle effect.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would freeze if Unseen Saboteur caused your opponent to play a Chameleos that had transformed into a spell.
  • Fixed an issue where damage would not be correctly doubled when playing a healing effect with Crystalsmith Kangor and Auchenai Soulpriest on the board.
  • Fixed an issue where playing cards like Faceless Manipulator with Flobbidinous Floop in hand resulted in Floop transforming into the minion that Faceless Manipulator copied, instead of transforming into a copy of the Faceless Manipulator.
  • Fixed an issue where Eviscerate pulled from Unseen Saboteur can deal its combo damage if the Eviscerate's owner had combo activated on the previous turn.
  • Fixed an issue where minions that are forced to attack (such as due to Flark's Boom-Zooka) will not have their cost modified after attacking into a Freezing Trap.
  • Fixed an issue where Minion health could disappear during the mulligan phase in the Thai language client.
  • [Android] Adjusted installation and patching to be more consistent across all mobile platforms.
  • [Android] Fixed an issue causing some tablets to use the user interface intended for phones.
  • [Mobile] Fixed an issue causing text to disappear when switching to a non-english language client.
  • [Android] Fixed various installation issues encountered on Pixel devices.
  • [Rumble Run] Fixed an issue where Freezing Trap would destroy the enemy's shrine without leaving the dormant shrine.

New in Hearthstone 14.0 - Heart of Shadows (Apr 5, 2019)

  • The Rise of Shadows is nearly upon us! In this Hearthstone update we’re sharpening swords, feeding familiars, and stockpiling staves in preparation for descent into Dalaran and the launch of Rise of Shadows on April 9. This expansion introduces 135 devious new cards to add to your collection, kicks off the Year of the Dragon, adds in our first Arena set rotation, and much more!
  • Read on for details on everything that’s new in the tavern, and what’s included in the upcoming Rise of Shadows expansion!
  • Live Now!:
  • Archmage Vargoth
  • Try Archmage Vargoth early, for free! This Neutral Legendary spinner of spells and defender of Dalaran will be automatically added to your collection and can be played RIGHT NOW in Standard & Wild matches before Rise of Shadows officially launches on April 9.
  • Archmage Vargoth, 4 mana, 2 attack, 6 health -- At the end of your turn, cast a spell you've cast this turn (targets are random).
  • “Choose One” Card Art Updates:
  • A number of “Choose One” cards have had unique art added for each possible option. The following cards have received updates:
  • Wrath
  • Nourish
  • Starfall
  • Power of the Wild
  • Mark of Nature
  • Jade Idol
  • Living Roots
  • Raven Idol
  • Dark Wispers
  • Complete My Deck, Part 2
  • Hearthstone’s EVEN better at helping you build decks than ever before. We’ve made some improvements to the Smart Deck Builder introduced in our last major update:
  • Now use the smart deck builder to complete decks from the deck selection screen with a single click
  • Easily convert Wild decks to Standard with a single click using the intelligent card replacement algorithm
  • Please note that the smart deck builder will need some time after Rise of Shadows goes live in order to gather the necessary data to effectively suggest cards from the new set. We recommend waiting a couple of days before using this feature to create or complete Rise of Shadows decks.
  • Rise of Shadows – Launching April 9
  • Under the leadership of Arch-Villain Rafaam, notorious ne’er do-wells from across Hearthstone’s history have heeded the call and banded together under the decidedly unsubtle but exceptionally fitting moniker - the League of EV.I.L.!
  • Onward to Dalaran!:
  • After years working on their own and constantly being foiled, flustered, beaten, and bested, these masters of mischief have cooked up a scheme sure to bring them out of shame and into infamy! Their target? The magical floating city of Dalaran…
  • New Minions: Lackeys – Generated by EVIL cards that add Lackeys to your hand, Lackeys are 1/1 minions that, while lacking in terms of raw stats, have powerful Battlecry effects.
  • New Spells: Schemes – Schemes are powerful spells that become even more powerful the longer they stay in your hand.
  • New Keyword: Twinspell - Twinspells are spells that, once cast, create a copy of themselves in your hand to be used whenever you like.
  • Once Rise of Shadows launches, keep an eye on your quest log for a series of Legendary quests that will reward Rise of Shadows card packs along with card packs from other Year of the Dragon sets.
  • Year of the Dragon:
  • The Year of the Dragon starts soon, meaning that we are waving a fond farewell to the Year of the Mammoth sets. Once Rise of Shadows launches on April 9, you will no longer be able to purchase packs from the Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, and Kobolds & Catacombs expansions, and any cards from those expansions will no longer be playable in Standard game modes.
  • Arena Updates:
  • With Rise of Shadows, the Arena will start a regular rotation of available cards from both new and older expansions. To kick things off, the available cards will have a decidedly… E.V.I.L. theme. Here’s which sets you’ll have access to when choosing cards in the Arena, starting April 9:
  • Basic
  • Classic
  • Naxxramas
  • Whispers of the Old Gods
  • Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
  • The Witchwood

  • Poisonous, Lifesteal, and Overkill Update
  • Before this patch, if a card lost its Poisonous, Lifesteal, or Overkill keyword in the time between dealing damage and applying its keyword effect, that effect would not be applied. After the patch, if a card has a Poisonous, Lifesteal, or Overkill keyword at the moment it deals damage, that keyword effect will apply no matter what. As an example, imagine a Stubborn Gastropod attacks an Acolyte of Pain. Then when Acolyte of Pain triggers, it draws a Scroll of Wonder, which in turn casts Silence on the Stubborn Gastropod. Before this patch, the Stubborn Gastropod would not apply its Poisonous effect, and the Acolyte of Pain would live. After the patch, the Stubborn Gastropod will still apply Poisonous after being silenced and the Acolyte of Pain will die.

  • Fixed an issue where clicking on a Charge/Rush minion as it comes into play could make it unclickable for the rest of the game.
  • Fixed an issue where Stargazer Luna would not trigger if the right-most card in hand was a minion and changed controllers after coming into play.

New in Hearthstone 13.0 - Rastakhan's Rumble (Dec 3, 2018)

New in Hearthstone 12.2 (Oct 25, 2018)

  • Giggling Inventor – Will cost 7 mana. (Up from 5):
  • Change: 6 mana -> 7 mana
  • Giggling Inventor is one of the most powerful and popular cards we’ve ever created. There’s virtually no downside to including it in a deck, and because it’s neutral, it’s played in almost every deck. We think it’s important to take risks when making powerful cards, especially when it comes to neutral taunts, given the role they can play in encouraging minion interactions and making games more interesting. However, Giggling Inventor has stepped beyond its intended role, and we don’t feel that it should be as effective as it currently is.
  • We initially tested this card at (6) mana in both the current Standard format as well as with cards that will be released in the future. Ultimately, we felt that its power level was still higher than is appropriate for a Neutral card with no build-around requirements. At (7) mana, we expect Giggling Inventor will find its way into fewer decks in general—and be much less effective in Quest Rogue—while it might remain situationally playable within specific deck archetypes, such as Evolve Shaman.
  • Mana Wyrm – Will cost 2 mana. (Up from 1):
  • Change: 1 mana -> 2 mana
  • Over time, we’ve been moving away from powerful, early-game 1-drops like Mana Wyrm. It can often feel like the outcome of a game is decided by whether Mana Wyrm was played on turn one, and if it could be removed quickly by an opponent. Mana Wyrm has also steered us away from making powerful low-cost Mage spells. We’d like Mana Wyrm to remain an option for decks it synergizes with, while preventing it from being a huge turn one threat.
  • At (2) mana, it will be easier to deal with Mana Wyrm the turn it’s played, and it will be harder to buff it with cheap spells early in the match. We still expect it to remain an option in decks that have a heavy focus on cheap spells, but it should be a less appealing option in decks that aren’t built with that focus in mind.
  • Aviana – Will cost 10 mana. (Up from 9):
  • Change: 9 mana -> 10 mana
  • Changing Aviana to (10) mana means it will no longer be possible to play Aviana and Kun the Forgotten King on the same turn without some additional help from cards like Innervate or The Coin. It also means Juicy Psychmelon will no longer draw both Aviana and Kun. This should make the combos Aviana and Kun produce less consistent, while still allowing decks that use the combos to exist for the players that enjoy playing them.

New in Hearthstone 11.0.0.23966 (10.04.2018) (Apr 13, 2018)

  • The Witchwood is Hearthstone's eighth expansion. Featuring 135 new collectible cards, and the new Druid alternate hero Lunara, the expansion released on April 12, 2018.[2]
  • The expansion introduced three new keywords: Start of Game, Echo, which allows a card to be played multiple times on the same turn, and Rush, which acts like Charge but doesn't allow the minion to attack the enemy hero the turn it is played. It also added a new game mode called Monster Hunt, a single-player mode akin to Dungeon Run with four exclusive playable classes.
  • As the first expansion of 2018, the release of The Witchwood ended the previous Standard year, the Year of the Mammoth, and started the new one, Year of the Raven.
  • The set contains 135 collectible cards in total.
  • Each class will receive two Legendary minion cards.
  • Neutral
  • Common (22 cards)
  • Main article: Monster Hunt
  • Monster Hunt is a single-player game mode, similar to the game mode of Dungeon Runs featured in Kobolds & Catacombs. Monster Hunt will become available on April 26, 2018.[4]
  • Four special heroes are featured, each having access to a special hero power and to special new cards:
  • Cannoneer – Warrior
  • Houndmaster – Hunter
  • Time-Tinker – Mage
  • Tracker – Rogue
  • Clearing Monster Hunt with all four classes makes them all join forces against Hagatha.
  • Themes
  • Echo
  • Shifting shapes and ephemeral phantasms manifest out of the fog—the curse on the Witchwood has unsettling effects on both material beings and spells alike. Some will Echo, reproducing themselves.
  • The wily can channel this spectral side effect to their advantage: cards with Echo can be played again and again on the same turn—as long as you have the mana to pay the price.[1]
  • Cards with Echo can be played multiple times on the same turn.
  • Cheap Shot
  • Face Collector
  • Glinda Crowskin
  • Hunting Mastiff
  • Mistwraith
  • Phantom Militia
  • Pick Pocket
  • Sound the Bells!
  • Warpath
  • Rush
  • The power emanating from the Witchwood imbues feral vigor into those who are in tune with their predatory instincts, urging them to unnatural aggression and startling speed.
  • Minions with the new Rush keyword can attack opposing minions—but not Heroes—on the same turn they are played. Rush offers the immediate gratification of Charge without its game-ending potential, so you’ll encounter more minions that hit the ground running with this new keyword.
  • Minions with Rush can attack the same turn they are played, but are not allowed to attack heroes. While not as strong as Charge, they make up for it in other areas; mainly stats.
  • Countess Ashmore
  • Cursed Castaway
  • Darius Crowley
  • Druid of the Scythe
  • Gilnean Royal Guard
  • Houndmaster Shaw
  • Hunting Mastiff
  • Militia Commander
  • Muck Hunter
  • Redband Wasp
  • Scaleworm
  • Swift Messenger
  • Town Crier
  • Woodcutter's Axe
  • Odd and even
  • The Witchwood’s growing influence drives even the redoubtable citizens of Gilneas to fearful flights of fancy. Uneasy townsfolk share bizarre stories of black cats with knowing eyes, and giant moths that peer into windows during the dead of night. Stranger still, they all seem to share the same horrid dream, night after night: a feeling of unspeakable dread as they watch huge, spectral fangs devour the moon.
  • Striking back against the fear that grips the city requires iron discipline and sacrifice. Superstition must be cast aside in favor of strict order. Those with the will to banish this evil must find it in them to do what must be done—even when close to the limits of their strength.
  • Some cards activate a powerful effect as long as your deck contains only odd- or even-cost cards.
  • Odd
  • Baku the Mooneater
  • Black Cat
  • Glitter Moth
  • Gloom Stag
  • Even
  • Genn Greymane
  • Murkspark Eel
  • Worgen
  • The cursed denizens of the Witchwood will not find the people of Gilneas to be easy prey. Even the city’s humblest citizen hides a beastly secret: they are Worgen, capable of assuming the form of a hulking, ferocious wolf-beast when threatened.
  • Each turn they are in your hand, these cards swap their attack and health. Spring them on an opponent when their form best matches your desired function.
  • When Gilneas was hit with the curse of the worgen, many of the kingdom's human inhabitants were transformed into monstrous beasts, but have since then gained the ability to switch between the two forms.
  • Arcane Keysmith
  • Bellringer Sentry
  • Darius Crowley
  • Genn Greymane
  • Muck Hunter
  • Town Crier
  • Toxmonger
  • Worgen Abomination
  • Some cards alternate between forms each turn while in your hand and change their stats to represent this ability.
  • Duskhaven Hunter
  • Gilnean Royal Guard
  • Pumpkin Peasant
  • Spellshifter
  • Swift Messenger
  • Battlefield
  • The expansion came with a new battlefield. A partial shot of the new board is shown below.

  • New card backs have been added. Collect these by doing awesome things such as participating in each Ranked Season!
  • The Hearthsteed mount reward has been added and can now be obtained for your World of Warcraft account! Win 3 games in Play or Arena mode to acquire one of your own!
  • You can now connect to other regions (Americas, Europe, Korea, Taiwan) of Hearthstone regardless of the region that is set on your Battle.net account. Account progress and card collections are saved separately per region. This feature will become available once the patch is live in all regions.
  • The “Players Near Me” feature is now enabled by default. You can disable this feature in the Options Menu.
  • The queue timer now only shows up after you’ve been waiting a while.
  • The total amount of gold that an account can hold at any given time has been set at 20,000 gold; gold cannot be earned on accounts with 20,000 or more gold until some gold has been spent. This cap is intended to combat certain methods of gold acquisition that violate our Terms of Service. The spirit of fair play is extremely important to us, and we will continue to monitor gold acquisition activity closely to ensure a fun and enjoyable game environment for everyone.
  • Certain Expert cards have been changed and the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting these cards have been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft those cards. Affected cards are:
  • Nat Pagle
  • Tinkmaster Overspark
  • Ranked Play:
  • During each Ranked Season change, players may now start the new season at a rank higher than the default Angry Chicken rank, depending on the rank that was obtained at the end of the previous season. You’ll receive one bonus star for every rank you achieved in the previous season.
  • The Angry Chicken rank now starts with 0 stars, instead of 1. Bawk!?
  • Arena:
  • Arena rewards at 10, 11, and 12 wins no longer reward common non-golden cards.
  • Visuals:
  • Many new card effects have been added. +3 Sparkles/+5 Shinies.
  • Minions who have Taunt and Stealth now have an effect that more clearly indicates that Taunt is temporarily disabled during Stealth.
  • Mass disenchanting now has new and improved graphics. Now you can mass disenchant in style!
  • The UI that pops up when challenging a friend to a duel has been improved. Wow, so challenge.
  • Minions that have been blessed by Blessing of Wisdom now show the trigger “lightning bolt”. Talk about a bright idea!
  • Gameplay:
  • If you disconnect from a game, you now have 60 seconds to try and reconnect and pick up from where you left off.
  • The Expert AI has been sent to Hearthstone training camp and should now be more challenging.
  • If a player’s deck contains all Golden cards, a Golden Coin will compliment your deck if you happen to go second.
  • Unlocking a hero now plays that Hero’s emote. Well met!
  • Secrets can now only activate on your opponent’s turn.
  • Activating your own secrets feels a little strange, but mostly, the ability to do this was preventing us from creating new and powerful secrets that trigger off of events you can easily control (like a minion dying). They end up functioning just like spells, instead of trying to bait your opponent into a bad play. This change keeps secrets working like traps you lay for your opponent, instead of spells that you cast and use on your own turn.
  • Card Changes:
  • Nat Pagle now reads: At the start of your turn, you have a 50% chance to draw an extra card.
  • Nat Pagle will now draw a card at the start of your turn rather than at the end. Nat had too much draw power for a card that is fairly hard to counter so early in the game, making it almost an auto-include for many decks. This change reduces the power of the card and gives players more time to counter the card before it starts.
  • Tinkmaster Overspark is now a 3/3 (up from 2/2) and now reads: Battlecry: Transform another random minion into a 5/5 Devilsaur or a 1/1 Squirrel.
  • Tinkmaster is a neutral card that silences and often shrinks big creatures. This reduces the amount of big, fun creatures in the environment. We think this change will increase the amount fun creatures in the environment, and bring him more in-line with his cost and overall power. Tinkmaster should still show up in certain types of decks, but will no longer be appearing in every high level deck.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Water Elemental (Mage) will now properly freeze armored heroes as intended.
  • Ancestral Healing (Shaman) will now always attempt to heal a minion for its full Health regardless of its current Health.
  • The issue where minions randomly swap battle positions with other minions is a result of many factors and issues. All known circumstances and issues that result in minions dancing randomly around have been resolved.
  • Cards now better respect personal space while in a player’s hand. Similar to the minion swapping issue, all known circumstances and issues that result in cards overlapping with other cards in a player’s hand have been resolved.
  • The New Deck button in the Collection Manager no longer stays highlighted if you quickly click the Done and No buttons after selecting a hero.
  • The Hearthstone client will no longer remain in the foreground when you click on another program.
  • You can now select a friend in the friends list by clicking on their medal in Play mode.
  • If you were playing a friendly game when daily quests were granted, you are now correctly notified after the game.
  • The Repair Bot's healing ability now generates an entry in the game history.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the buttons to stop working for a short moment when transitioning back to the main hub.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some accounts from properly receiving friendly challenges.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some accounts from joining Play, Practice or Friendly games if they have a custom deck in their collection.
  • Fixed an issue where entering a new Arena run while getting a new daily quest can cause the Arena purchase and the back buttons to be unresponsive.
  • Fixed an issue where you will receive a toast stating your friend has just come online if you log into Hearthstone and that friend was already online.
  • Fixed an issue where attempting to create a new deck would cause the game to time out after about a minute.
  • Fixed an issue where backing out of a deck list while its deck tile is animating to the top of the list will cause the deck list buttons to become unresponsive.
  • Fixed an issue where cards opened in packs or earned from defeating heroes may not appear in your collection after restarting the client.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking on the Last Played player area in friends list opens up the Add a Friend prompt without automatically filling in the player's BattleTag.
  • Fixed an issue where the credits can be played while in the Today's Quests screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the quest Level Up! is completed upon reaching a total level of 10 instead of level 10 on one Hero.
  • Improved many graphical effects and fixed various graphical and game behavior issues.
  • Fixed a number of audio and sound issues.
  • Mac:
  • Toggling full screen mode on some resolutions and monitors will no longer cause the window borders to be visible.
  • Fixed a graphical issue that could occur when changing resolutions.
  • Loading into a game will no longer cause graphical issues while on high graphics settings.
  • The system menu bar will no longer display over the client in full screen mode.
  • Using Alt + Tab to switch focus while in full screen mode will no longer cause the dock to appear over the client.

New in Hearthstone 1.0.0.4482 Beta 1 (Jan 22, 2014)

  • Hearthstone Open Beta Test is now live in North America

New in Hearthstone 1.0.0.4458 (Jan 17, 2014)

  • General
  • Certain Expert cards have been changed and the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting these cards have been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft those cards. Affected cards are:
  • Abusive Sergeant
  • Blood Imp
  • Dark Iron Dwarf
  • Defender of Argus
  • Pyroblast
  • Sylvanas Windrunner
  • Unleash the Hounds
  • Hunter:
  • Unleash the Hounds now costs 2 (down from 4)
  • Unleash the Hounds was intended to give Hunters their own form of AoE and to have synergy with other beast cards, but its old cost was too prohibitive.
  • Mage:
  • Pyroblast now costs 10 (up from 8)
  • The 8-cost Pyroblast made for an un-interactive experience where the Mage only needed to do 10 damage during the course of a game and then double Pyroblast you for the win. We want Mages to be more interactive with the opponent to achieve victory, rather than delay the game until they can Pyroblast.
  • Warlock:
  • Blood Imp is now a 0/1 (down from 1/1) and now reads: Stealth. At the end of your turn, give another random friendly minion +1 Health.
  • The Warlock has three very strong 1-cost minions and that made the Warlock rush deck slightly stronger than we were comfortable with.
  • Warrior:
  • Warsong Commander has been reworked and now reads: Whenever you play a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge.
  • Charge (the spell, not the keyword) has been reworked and now costs 3 mana. The card’s new power reads: “Give a friendly minion +2 Attack and Charge”.
  • Both of these cards were key components in “One Turn Kill” or “OTK” decks that kill your opponent in one turn without requiring any cards on the board. We want the game to be about playing minions and fighting for board control rather than just waiting until you can play your big combo and win in one turn with no interaction from your opponent.
  • Neutral:
  • Abusive Sergeant now reads Battlecry: Give a minion +2 Attack until end of turn
  • Abusive Sergeant was changed to make his power the same as the new Dark Iron Dwarf and to give it additional versatility.
  • Dark Iron Dwarf now reads Battlecry: Give a minion +2 Attack until end of turn
  • This change was made to reduce the Dark Iron Dwarf’s overall power slightly. We also wanted to make the Battlecry effect the same as Abusive Sergeant‘s as to not force you to permanently buff one of your opponent’s creatures.
  • Defender of Argus is now a 2/3 (down from 3/3)
  • Defender of Argus was a card that found itself automatically included in many decks due to its power and stats. We want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks, so cards that feel like they must be in all decks (especially Neutral ones) are not ideal.
  • Novice Engineer is now a 1/1 (down from 1/2)
  • The Novice Engineer was played in most non-rush decks (and even some rush decks) due to its cost and power. Similar in reasoning to our Defender of Argus change, we want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks.
  • Sylvanas Windrunner now costs 6 (up from 5)
  • Sylvanas had power and stats that made it a bit too powerful compared to other 5-cost cards, which made it automatically included in many decks. We want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks, so cards that feel like they must be in all decks (especially Neutral ones) are not ideal.

New in Hearthstone 1.0.0.4243 (Dec 19, 2013)

  • General:
  • Certain Expert cards have been changed and the amount of dust that you get from disenchanting these cards have been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft those cards. Affected cards are -
  • Blizzard
  • Cone of Cold
  • Mage:
  • We understand that the Freeze mechanic can be frustrating to play against, and we wanted to make changes that would allow the Mage’s opponent some additional time to be aggressive with their minions and well as slow the overall pacing of the control-based Mage play style.
  • Blizzard’s mana cost is now 6 (up from 5).
  • Cone of Cold’s mana cost is now 4 (up from 3).
  • Frost Nova’s mana cost is now 3 (up from 2).
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Resolved an issue where certain account states could prevent new Arena runs from being started. Previously impacted accounts should now be able to properly start new Arena runs.
