  • Reticle Blocking Begone:
  • Currently there are two situations where your reticle will get blocked, aiming uphill and while crouch strafing, both of which make it extremely difficult to aim. With today's patch we have made the following adjustments that address these issues:
  • Lowered the weapon placement on the back of the character model to prevent weapons from blocking the reticle when aiming up hill.
  • Moved the crouched camera height up to prevent the players head from blocking the reticle when strafing side to side while crouched.
  • Optimizations:
  • Made an optimization to how the system handles packet bundling. Players should be seeing an improvement of 5-10 ms in their pings.
  • A few things relating to how the in game HUD animates specific elements are being changed/optimized to increase performance and address possible micro stutters.
  • Applying a change to a system that interacts with the in game UI that should net players some extra frames. FPS gain will vary based upon players hardware.
  • Optimized the in game flora.

  • Fixed a bug that was briefly popping the end match screen onto a players screen when they were clicking spectate to watch their team mate who was still alive.

  • Fixed an error for a portion of the UI that wasn't switching from English to the localized language for other regions.
  • Audio feedback was not playing when mousing over menu options, this has been fixed.
  • In normal solos at the end of a match the messaging was still telling players they needed to go to Ranked Pro mode to progress. This was a messaging error in the system and has been corrected to show the player how far they have to go to get to the next tier.
  • Cleaned up team mates loading into the world on the front end menu when joining the group.
  • Known Issues:
  • The weapon model in the kill feed may appear facing the wrong direction.

  • Animations: Jump/Strafe:
  • The standing jump will be returning to PS3 behavior with longer anticipation, but also allowing movement to occur before leaving ground. Touch ups have also been made to the strafe animations to bring them more in line with PS3 behavior.
  • Note: These changes may require a quick hot fix deploy to enable following the patch. If needed this will occur very shortly following the patch.
  • The Return of Road Shine:
  • The shine/glow from the sun on the roads was a big piece of the feel during the PS3/King of the Kill era of the game. It wasn't ready for the patch last week, but over the last week one of our team members was able to get it finished up and ready for today's patch. We are happy to get this key piece of nostalgia back into the game to complete the overall look and vibe of PS3.
  • Don't Get Pinched:
  • St Paddy's day is upon us and it's time to start sporting some green in your fits or suffer every BR players least favorite situation and get stuck in a pinch. What's that? Don't have any green skins to protect yourself with? Well we have just the skin for you, the brand new Leprechaun's Envy is now available through the message of the day in the main menu. Looking to get your first win of the season? Maybe a little leprechaun luck can swing tide of battle in your favor.

New in H1Z1: Battle Royale 1.9.10 - 14th February 2019 (Feb 14, 2019)

  • Bullseye Arcade Mode:
  • Welcome to Bullseye! Prepare to have your scoped and melee weapon savviness put to the test as you make use of all the limited available weapon set in this Arcade Mode. In this first person only mode you will have the M1 Socom, the Ranch Rifle, the Sniper Rifle, the Crossbow, the Combat Knife, and the Machete available to you as you fight to be the last one standing and take down that coveted #1 spot! Outside of the first person only setting and the weapon set all other standard BR rules apply. GLHF!
  • Starting Safe Zone Tweaks:
  • We rolled the first half of this out last week, but encountered a few issues that forced us to pull it. We have since cleaned up these outlying issues and added in the second phase to give a complete package this week. The following changes will go live with today’s patch:
  • The opening safe zone (gas wall) on dynamic safe zone matches has been increased to 1.5x the normal start size. This is to allow a bit more breathing room and spread of players at the start of matches.
  • Currently on live (before today's patch) the next safe zone is immediately announced upon the start of the parachute phase at the start of the match. We have added a delay to the announcement of the circle to add a better player spread at the start of the matches. We were seeing a trend of the majority of players flying to the announced safe zone, creating a very small and densely populated landing location for the matches. This change should help to give the dynamic games a better overall pacing.
  • QoL Changes to the Combat Knife and Machete
  • We have made some quality of life changes to the Combat Knife and the Machete in terms of their responsiveness. These are slight, but noticeable changes. Both weapons should now respond to your input much quicker and also should be able to activate while sprinting, previously you had to click twice (one to remove sprint speed and a 2nd click to activate the attack). It will remove the sprint for a split second to activate the attack and then return you to your sprint speed.
  • Hosted Game Update for CIS Region Server:
  • We have applied a requested update to the Russia/CIS Region Hosted Games server. The server has been modified with a new name and in game logo/graphics asset. Going forward the new name for this server is Emerald Dream.
  • We’d also like to take a moment to give a shoutout to Panchitime who does a ton for this region behind the scenes. We appreciate all the work he puts into translating patch notes, tweets, and videos for the CIS region community group that he runs while also taking the time each week to run and organize Hosted Games for the region. For players in this region that want to get into the Hosted Games and get translated information check out his community group at vk.com/z1battleroyale.

  • One thing that was not on test that you will notice on live is we made changes to the hip fire as well, and you should notice that the hip fire recoil should also feel more like PS3.

  • Minor Changes:
  • On the main menu the "Career Stats" option has now been changed to "Leaderboards".
  • All scroll bars on the front end menu have had a color change, and are now gold.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Loot distro issues around the PV Clock tower and some camp grounds were corrected. A few of these spots were what we considered to be "jackpot" locations that had an excessive amount of loot and have now been scaled back to be more in line with the distribution of loot across the rest of the map. We are aware of a few case instances such as some camp sites and other locations that are not generating enough loot, and we will be looking to correct these in a future patch.
  • Breaking windows with certain weapon types will now properly play the audio file associated with glass breaking.
  • Fixed various geo issues (floating art, visibility problems around Matthys baseball field, and one very troublesome office building in Ranchito).
  • When spectating in team games, there was an issue with extraneous nameplates. These have been removed.
