What's new in Capsa 0.11.10.0

  • This update introduces a world map menu which allows the player to see markers of unlocked areas, locations of players, and place a waypoint to travel to. There are filters to switch which marker type is shown as well to display players which are friends only. To open the map it is M key by default for keyboard and Back button (or equivilent) for gamepad.
  • In addition to this we've also overhauled the gamepad mappings with support for all recently added features and improving action set switching. You may need to grab the latest official gamepad mapping in Big Picture mode if it isn't automatically updated for you.
  • Theres also a bunch of general bug-fixes and quality of life improvements as listed in the full notes below. But first is a few more screenshots of the world map system.

  • Added a new focus on cinema screen camera when you are in an emote (sit, dance etc.) state. You can get this by toggling camera, and one of the available cameras will be focused on the screen.

  • Added improvements to the way the time of day updates via manual command, so it can effectically make changes in real time rather than a fraction to a second or so delay.

  • Added new area featuring farmland and canyon to Tautini island.
  • Added cinematic graphics option for enabling/disabling the large fishes (such as sharks, manta rays). By default, this is disabled, enabling this will add a moderate CPU cost.

  • General :
  • Migrated game to Unreal Engine 4.21 from 4.19.
  • Added significant changes to the ground vehicle back-end, optimizing game thread performance slightly.

  • Removed DFAO from cinematic options as no longer needed (base graphics were improved a while ago).

  • Added new interaction system that allows the player to look at specific interactable objects (e.g. vehicles, seats) and see on-screen the key to press to interact. You can also look directly at the seat you wish to sit in, rather than sit in the closest. This works in combination with the previous system, so even when you don't look directly at an object you can just interact with closest by default for convience.
  • Added various texture memory optimizations, this will also reduce installation size.
  • Fixed an issue where right clicking in radial menu would get you stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where character camera can zoom in too far and get stuck due to a combination of events involving leaving a vehicle and specific saved camera states.

  • Fixed an issue relating to the headlights on the scorpion buggy.

  • Added significant improvements to Matairangi and Rohai area.

  • Added changes to walking achievements with Rambler and Wayfarer being removed. A new achievement ‘Runner’ is being added for traveling 5,000m distance on foot. This will be earned when you run the game for those who already have exceeded this distance.
  • Added changes to the swimming achievements with long distance swimmer and diver being removed. A new swimmer achievement is set at swim 3,000m.
  • Added changes to the air time achievements with all milestones being removed as we didn’t feel this fit with current gameplay.
  • Added changes to the ‘Groom’ achievement which involves applying the horse editor 25 times. For those that have the stats, this will re-earn when you run the game.
  • Added changes to various hidden item achievement milestones with it being simplified towards Scavenger (1), Hunter (25), Detectorist (100), and Accumulator (250). The reason for this change is consistency plus to remove achievement spam at lower levels.
  • Added new achievement milestones for smashable items, this follows same convention as the new hidden item milestones.
  • Added changes to Prop destruction achievements with all current milestones being removed. Instead there are new milestones for 25 (Ruffian), 100 (Hoodlum) and 250 (Bull In A China Shop). We felt this achievement didn’t fit with the current direction of the game as it wasn’t obtainable realistically through normal gameplay.
  • Added changes to global distance based achievements with all milestones being removed, this part of the change towards more action based achievements, rather than just high stat targets.
  • Added new picklockable hidden items with achievements for completing each.
  • Added changes to global time tracking achievements with all milestones being removed. These will still be used for calculating home ownership persistency, but will just no longer feature an actual achievement for reaching miletones.
  • Added additional picklocking achievements, for successfully picklocking 100 locks.

  • Added improvements to the default preset for the Barracuda boat, the initial configuration looks better as seen by new players.
  • Environment:
  • Added improvements to several areas on both Kiokio and Naupata. Notable areas with significant improvements are Kutekute, Huna, Wapu and Arohata. Various other areas have minor additions.
  • Added improvements to collisions of rope bridges, horses should traverse them now without issue.

  • Added camera option to options menu to set whether ‘game mode’ is enabled by default when you first play the game. Going forwards it will be enabled by default, the hotkey remains to allow you to toggle ingame too.
  • Added camera option to options menu so you can set whether the game will start up in first person by default, by default this is disabled.
  • Added improved handling of achievements and stats. Achievements such as items and areas should appear now within seconds of obtaining, with stats being updated every 2 minutes generally. There are also on-screen notifications when finding areas now.
  • Added improved handling of item drops, now all inventory items are automatically stacked, so you can easily tell if you have a duplicate.
  • Added various improvements to the loading screen.
  • Added improvements to cave entrance volumes, with fixes to some areas that weren’t correctly identifying the area the cave was located in.
  • Added improvements to rewind functionality. The 3 seconds of rewind is only counted against a moving character or vehicle.
  • Added various improvements and additional stats to statistics menu.
  • Added various performance optimizations, reducing installation and potential memory usage by around 2.3 GB.
  • Added interactable locks with lockpicking.
  • Added new hidden item type, a locked box which can be picklocked to receive a one-time item drop.

  • This update introduces a new area, a ship graveyard, plus a significant expansion to the existing Kapohau area. We've also included several fixes to various reported issues over the last few days.
  • We've also introduced a statistics menu that is still a little work in progress, but it should make keeping track of progress towards some achievements easier. This will be refined over the coming week.
  • Another addition is usable flashlights, which by default can be enabled using the tab key. Refinements to this after feedback, including controls for gamepad and other devices will be added in the coming days.
  • On the item store we've added a new Buggy (which users who owned the game before free-to-play will get for free). This sandrailer will recieve several paint job options (both paid and free) throughout this week.
