For some reason, tank shooters are extremely popular nowadays, since you only need to think of games like World of Tanks or War Thunder to realize that there are millions of active players just for those two games. Hence, it’s no wonder that smaller developers try to get a piece of the action, but as it’s usually the case, they do this by borrowing mechanics and developing a copycat with none of the original’s appeal.

Tank Force is an arcade shooter that allows you to customize your tank and use it in multiplayer matches against other players. There are barely any new features to play with, especially if you are already a fan of World of Tanks or similar games, and to top things off, the game is riddled with microtransactions as well. Hence, there are not many reasons to make the switch if you are bored with WoT for some reason.

To begin with, the gameplay is fast-paced and very much a grind, given the fact that realism is nowhere to be seen in terms of shooting, tank movement or anything like that. Although you are told in the tutorial that tanks have weak points in their armor, you still need to hit enemies like fifteen times in order to destroy them. This makes multiplayer matches very annoying and unnecessarily long, not to mention frustrating.

The other major disappointment awaits you in the hangar, where you can resupply your tank with ammunition, as well as customize it with decals and better parts. Most of these cost currency, which can obviously be bought with real money as well. This wouldn’t be a problem if money wouldn’t allow you to buy more damage for your tank, which is pretty much the definition of pay-to-win.

Lastly, Tank Force is not a revolution in the graphics department either, even if it promises incredible graphics. The game does not look bad, but it’s nothing special either, especially not when it comes to explosions and special effects. The maps are very dull and uninteresting too, which means that the matches have a tendency to get boring very quickly.

Tank Force is far from the revolutionary tank battle simulator the developers praise it to be, but then again it’s not a horrible game either. Hence, as long as you are happy to just log in and exchange shells with other people, this can still keep you entertained for a while, but nothing more.
