Snipers played crucial roles in many battles or tense situations from all over the world, regardless of whether we are talking about the second World War or a hostage situation from only a few months ago. Sharpshooters can easily de-escalate a situation in a matter of seconds, although they usually do this by taking someone’s life. Hence, the decision to pull the trigger is a lot easier to make in a simulated environment.
Sniper Fury is a casual shooter that provides you with a plethora of missions in which you have to take out enemies using well-placed shots, as well as protect various objectives while doing so. There are quite a few drawbacks and terrible design choices as well, on the other hand, especially since you cannot move your character at all during the missions, but it really depends on how well you manage your expectations. To begin with, the game is clearly ported from mobile devices, especially since it keeps asking you to “tap.” The fact that you cannot move around the levels is yet another indicator, and it is actually very annoying, but on the other hand it also makes things very simple and straightforward. There’s a helpful tutorial to get you started, but the fact that it cannot be skipped is very annoying if you are a veteran of the genre.
Each mission rewards you with experience, which in turn allows you to level-up and gain better skills. However, your greatest challenge is to get new equipment, since weapons tend to get too weak after a point. You can find items by opening crates, although they are obviously hard to get most of the time. It’s possible to use real cash in order to get ahead, however, so it depends on how deep your wallet is. As far as the graphics are concerned, you shouldn’t expect an awful lot, given the fact that the game was ported from mobile devices. It does look pretty well, on the other hand, especially when it comes to textures and the level design quality. The animations are quite nice, but the bullet camera is a bit annoying, because it only shows the bullet in slow motion, while the actual kill is only shown for a split second and it’s always the same.
When it’s all said and done, Sniper Fury probably won’t be able to keep you engaged for longer than a few minutes at a time, especially if you are used to the finer things in life. However, it may be relaxing enough to help you blow off some steam after a hard day.
