Tank-o-box

Tank-o-box is an old-school arcade game in which you control a tank and use it to blast other tanks to pieces. The game features simple graphics but comes with intuitive controls and semi-intense combat.

Tank-o-box is a game that by today’s standards, doesn’t shine too much. In the visual’s department things could have been better but judging it by the graphics from almost ten years ago, it looks good. So do the effects.

In Tank-o-box, you have one simple task, two actually. Either you blow stuff up, or you prevent other tanks from destroying your headquarters. It’s all very simple. You point your tank into a direction and shoot. You can move around using the arrow keys, ammo is infinite, and apparently so is the number of lives you have.

Once in awhile, you destroy an enemy tank, and it drops an upgrade for you. Once you pick it up, your tank is surrounded by a metal cover, and after a short while, it emerges upgraded. Each upgrade brings an obvious visual improvement that indicates that your tank just got beefier and more dangerous.

All the upgrades you pick up improve your tank in a way. You get more armor, and your weapon becomes more powerful. Pick up enough of them and you end up with a dual barrel cannon and rocket launchers. The one thing you really need to be careful with is not to die. It’s not that you lose a life, or the game ends, but if happens, all your upgrades go down the drain.

In closing, Tank-o-box might be fun if you want an old-school game in front of you. It can be even more so if you find a friend and share the two player mode.
