Fresco Wizard

Fresco Wizard is a puzzle game with a storyline that features sorcerers, gems, mosaics, and restoring a destroyed kingdom. It’s a puzzle game with quite a bit of depth and interesting gameplay mechanics.

The main plot to the game says that in a fantasy world, an evil sorcerer unleashed his magic and transformed the realm into multiple mosaics. Your job is to restore things to how they were by completing the mosaics using pieces that make their way onto the screen in a random order.

An interesting thing to Fresco Wizard is that you have to complete multiple mosaics at the same time, switching between them, finding the best ways to fit all the pieces. There are several types of pieces, of various sizes and shapes, and you can use them any which way you see as long as they fit, the colors don’t have to match.

The gameplay is easy to learn and master, and thanks to the various power-ups it gets more interesting as well. You can discard unneeded pieces, and at times you have to, because they pile up like in Tetris; you can also smash them with a hammer or fill in the empty spaces using a sort of kettle.

In each level, you have different types of mosaics to create. It’s kind of fun to switch quickly between them, looking for the pieces you need and rotating them until they fit. It’s not a difficult game in the true sense of the word; it’s challenging, but the kind that allows you to relax while playing.

Fresco Wizard is an old game, but the concept to it is a nice one. I haven’t seen any recent games that come close to this kind of gameplay. In a way, you can say that Fresco Wizard is a rare kind of puzzle game.
