Treasure Planet: Battle At The Procyon Demo

Treasure Planet is an animated movie released by Disney a few years ago, in which science fiction and fantasy seamlessly blend together to portray a fascinating tale about space, pirates and mighty ships. Moreover, it also talks about the fate of a little boy by the name of Jim Hawkins, who's dream is to become a ship captain and explore the universe, searching for adventure and hidden treasure.

Treasure Planet: Battle at the Procyon is a real-time strategy game that aims to continue the story from the animated motion picture and provide you with a glimpse into the future of Jim Hawkins, who's at the center of the events this time around as well. Hence, in case you are a fan of the movie and you are eager to find out more about the tales of the space sailor, the game at hand allows you to satisfy your curiosity and even take part in these adventures yourself.

For starters, it should be mentioned that the game is actually based on classic RTS mechanics, which means that the interface makes full use of the mouse in order to allow you complete freedom when it comes to controlling your ship and engaging in battles. Speaking of which, the ships are modifiable as well, meaning that you can add better crew members and weapons, in order to increase efficiency and the amount of firepower on board.

Whenever you aren't playing in the campaign mode, the game provides you with the opportunity to participate in skirmish matches as well, in order to try out new strategies and find new ways to defeat your enemies. Moreover, there are three factions to choose from, each one of which comes with a different set of advantages and weaknesses: the Procyons, the Pirates and the Royal Navy. Depending on your choice, the gameplay varies as well, since every faction has it's own style and a predilection toward certain tactics.

Finally, the graphics are quite nice as well, although you usually look at the game world from an isometric perspective, as it is customary for most RTS titles. However, due to the fact that the action takes place in space, there is not too much terrain to talk about, which means that beside the ships themselves and various other objects floating around, there isn't too much to see. Fortunately, this means that a lot more care went into modeling the ships themselves, which look quite detailed and it is a real pleasure to admire them as they exchange blows with each other.

Treasure Planet: Battle at the Procyon may not be able to fight with the giants of the RTS genre, but it does rather well for itself and it can be a pleasant surprise for anyone interested in a bit of strategy. It can also be a good choice for those who enjoyed the movie, since it completes the story and provides a bit of close when it comes to the main character.
