Secret Weapons Over Normandy allows you to sit in the cockpit of the most famous planes designed during World War II and take part in a variety of missions across Europe, Asia and Africa. The scenarios differ from mission to mission and you must accomplish all kinds of objectives, such as bombing various targets and defeating the enemy fighters.

There is also a campaign you can try out, which follows the life of a certain James Chase as he flies for the British RAF in order to help with the war effort. Since he is part of a secret squadron that takes on the most difficult missions, the scenarios should be pretty exciting and engaging, especially since you get to be a part of the greatest air battles of WWII and pilot famous aircraft while you’re at it.

Speaking of which, the over twenty available planes can also be upgraded with better weapons and engines, in order to make them faster and more deadly. New models can be unlocked as you keep on winning the missions, or you can opt to capture them from enemy pilots during the actual scenarios. Every plane can be upgraded, although the initial specifications are also quite important.

The game does not rely on accurate flight models at all and everything about it screams ‘arcade’, since you can do just about anything with your plane using just four keys on the keyboard. The emphasis is put on the action and the experience itself, which is why there’s a lot of shooting and exciting missions to take part in. Hence, you can definitely have a lot of fun with it, but do not expect any kind of simulation or real-world physics.

In the end, Secret Weapons Over Normandy is the type of game you can play when you want a healthy dose of action and non-stop shooting. However, if you are looking for something that accurately depicts flight dynamics, then this is definitely not the game for you.
