People who find themselves out of a job are quite capable of doing some bad decisions, but not all of them choose to become truck drivers for the mafia and transport drugs and various other shady contents throughout the country. Sometimes, though, you might not have any other option and take what's in front of you.

Rebel Trucker is a game that puts you in the aforementioned situation and provides you with a chance to see what it would be like to be a truck driver for the mob, in case you were curious. Hence, since the outlaws from Louisiana are in need of a guy to transport their contraband from city to city, you apply for the job and manage to ace it, thus becoming part of the mafia in the process.

Before you hit the road, though, you have the option to go through some basic training, which should teach you the basics about the game's mechanics and how to properly drive the trucks. Right from the bat, the fact that the simulation engine is not very well made sticks out, since it is actually not at all fun or intuitive to steer the trucks on the road, not to mention in parking lots or crowded traffic.

Even if the story seems to progress as you advance through the missions, you rarely have anything to say in it and the plot quickly becomes just noise in the background. You do, however, have to face off against FBI agents from time to time, as well as help them bring down the mafia, but your main concern remains the delivery of contraband and the hundreds of miles that lay between the cities.

Speaking of which, despite the fact that most of the environment and locations are modeled after real places, the very disappointing graphic engine does not make any effort to make it believable. The entire game seems rushed and unfinished, especially since it is very repetitive and not a lot is going on over the course of the plot.

The fact remains that Rebel Trucker suffers from multiple personality disorder, since it does not seem to decide on whether it want to be an action game or a driving simulator. In the end, it manages to fail on both accounts and just come out as an unfinished product that may not be worth the gameplay hours.
