Pinokio Demo

There are many old tales that are told to children from all over the world, albeit with a few differences here and there. The story of Pinocchio is no different, since almost everyone knows about the wooden boy who came to life and wanted to be turned into a real human made of flesh. However, bedtime stories are not always enough to keep a child happy, which is why video games are so popular.

Pinokio is a cute little platformer in which the kids get to control Pinocchio himself and help him achieve his dream, by finding the Blue Fairy and asking her to turn him into a real boy. Along the way, many obstacles and enemies want to stop him, which is why he needs help to navigate the dangerous road ahead and make it alive to the end of his journey.

The story is more or less similar to the one from the book, although it is not very important to the gameplay itself. Gepetto makes an appearance in the short interludes between the levels as well, in order to give the children advice and keep the plot going, while also adding to the atmosphere. A variety of other fantastic creatures and characters are part of the adventure too.

Pinocchio must deal with some pretty nasty stuff on his way to the fairy, such as huge wasps, bees, spiders and rats, all of which are spread around the level. They do not attack you on sight, since they have pre-established paths they follow, but you do suffer damage if you touch them. Obviously, they can be dealt with by jumping on top of them, or by shooting at them with coins.

The graphics are very pretty, on the other hand, even if everything is in two dimensions. Colorful forests and glittering gems decorate the backgrounds, while the creatures are nicely animated. Gameplay-wise, the game is slow-paced and easy-to-grasp, since everything moves rather slowly for a platformer and it is quite simple to avoid falling into pits or stumbling into the enemies.

Pinokio may not hold a lot of substance, but it can be the perfect tool to give your children something fun to do and deal with their boredom. However, the levels can get quite repetitive and uninspired after a while, which can make it rather difficult to enjoy multiple replays.
