The Cameron Files series has make quite the impression the first time around, with the rather interesting story regarding the Loch Ness monster and the mysteries that surround the lake in question. Now, the sequel at hand deals with even weirder events and has you traveling all the way to Egypt, in order to unravel the curious case of a missing mummy.

The Cameron Files – Pharaoh's Curse is a point-and-click adventure game that has you hunting clues and interrogating people in order to get to the bottom of the mystery, which in this case happens to be an empty tomb and a missing mummy. Naturally, the story has you traveling from location to location, visiting Egypt and following the path of the Nile.

As with every other adventure game of this type and the previous title in the series, it all revolves around your ability to observe the environment, find objects of interest and combine them together in order to use them in other purposes. However, you also have to talk to various people along the way and extract information from them, as well as pinpoint some potential suspects.

Since the Egyptian tales about pharaoh curses are not to be taken lightly, the game features a supernatural touch as well, with some less-than-ordinary events taking place at various points throughout the story. Thus, you must also overcome the will of the gods in order to get to the bottom of the mystery, since not even you are safe from the wrath of the mummy once it sets its sight on you.

As far as the technical aspect is concerned, the pre-rendered graphics look quite well and the environments are very detailed, making it very easy for you to notice out-of-place objects or possible clues. However, the controls are a bit annoying, since the cursor is set to speed up when you move in a certain direction for too long and you often find yourself performing 180 degree turns without wanting to do so.

While the puzzles are not that difficult and the story not very original, The Cameron Files – Pharaoh's Curse remains a decent adventure title, especially since the mystery keeps you playing. However, the annoying controls might pose a few problems, at least until you get used to them and start handling the cursor much more carefully.
