Legion Arena Demo

Legion Arena is a strategy game that allows you to gain total control over your troops, by recruiting the necessary units and handpicking their equipment whenever you get the money to do so. Moreover, they also gain experience after every fight they win, which in turn translates into skill points and new abilities that can be employed on the battlefield.

In the beginning, you start off with a just a handful of soldiers, who are basically peasants with weapons and almost no combat experience whatsoever. As you advance through the game, though, they keep getting better and better, while the fame and the money received after every victory unlocks even more potential, in the form of various bonuses and abilities.

Each time a unit levels up, you are allowed to choose which one of their traits to improve, such as endurance, marksmanship and various other attributes that give them the upper hand in battle. Alternatively, there are also some special skills that can be trained over the course of the campaign, which vary depending on the unit type.

Your troops are also customizable from a cosmetic point of view, since their texture and color scheme can be manually chosen for each type of unit. This gimmick, coupled with the fact that there are countless ways to spend the received experience points, means that no two campaigns can ever be the same. Moreover, it is also possible to play as the Romans or the Celtic Clans and make use of their different types of units in the process, including Legionaires, elephants and Praetorians.

Graphic-wise, the game features nice weather and water effects, as well as day/night cycles and quite a few other interesting special effects. On the other hand, the actual units could have used a bit more work, although it is worth noting that it is possible to have a few hundred soldiers on the battlefield at the same time, which might have caused issues on slower computers if more polygons were added to the mix.

In the end, what really shines when it comes to Legion Arena is the multitude of customization options and the ability to control every part of your army. The sandbox mode can be used to designed your own battles and scenarios, in order to recreate famous battles or provide yourself with a challenge.
