De Mambo Demo

There are a lot of 2D arena style combat games running around, and although they share the core concepts and gameplay mechanics, there are those that change something for the better. One such example is De Mambo, a 2D, good looking arena game in which up to four players can compete.

Without a doubt, De Mambo is one of the visually appealing games of this kind. It looks like a retro 2D platformer brought into the 21st century. There are some mishaps here and there but then again, this is The Dangerous Kitchen’s first game and that actually works in their favor.

There is craftsmanship to appreciate and not only when it comes to the graphics, but to how each arena is stylized, and most importantly, how the characters are animated. The audio is cute too and adding that to the above mentioned, as a whole, De Mambo is definitely worth looking into.

One of the most important things to a game of this nature are the combat, mechanics. In De Mambo, this is simplified to the point where it’s hard to believe. Moving around is done using the standard controller button or keyboard layout but attacking, that’s where De Mambo makes things interesting.

Each character posses three attack types, and all of them are delivered by charging, using just one button. The amount of time you hold down that particular button dictates how your opponent will get hit, trampled or smashed. And speaking of smashing, the entire arena, can be destroyed. Combine that with the fast-paced nature of the game and you get an exciting experience.

To wrap it up, De Mambo is quite the interesting little game. It’s a good fit for anyone who’s looking to share good times with a few friends. Or it will be when it’s going to come out, at this time, it’s still in development. Nonetheless, it’s an appealing game.
